Congratulations to our Pirates of the Month!

She has worked very hard and made huge growth in her language this year. She's gaining confidence every day and she always follows the pirate code. She is an excellent example to the other students of how we need to behave in class. She always has a smile on her face and is always willing to help.

Jacobi is such a warm and loving person who is always eager to help his teachers or peers. I have seen him grow so much this year in every possible way! There is nothing better than watching him learn something new and be so proud of himself for his accomplishment. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this shining star!

Evangelina is sweet, kind, and loves helping her friends. She always does her best and follows Pirate Code.

Aubrynn exhibits everything you would want to find in a Cooper Pirate. She consistently follows the pirate code and works hard in everything she does. She goes above and beyond to be kind and respectful to adults as well as her peers. She is always the first to comfort someone who is upset or help someone in need. Aubrynn has a heart of gold and I can't wait to see where it takes her! Thank you for being a great pirate, Aubrynn!

Respectable, kind, diligent are all words to describe this student. This gentleman exemplifies the characteristics of a first grade pirate. He is quick to help and willing to lead when it comes to new friends and information. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him grow and explore this year in my class!

Parker is one of the sweetest girls I have taught. She exemplifies the Pirate Code in every way and always lends me or other students a helping hand. She sets a positive example for others and shows great leadership throughout school. She is an extremely hard worker that never gives up even when tasks become difficult, and always rises to the occasion. She exemplifies what our expectations of a Lubbock-Cooper North Pirate are.

Gus works extra hard on all assignments and has grown leaps and bounds this year in his learning. He is polite to his classmates and is respectful to adults. He is always following directions and looking for ways to help his teacher out. Plus, he is always in a good mood and smiling. He deserves to be recognized.

Aiden is a very responsible student. He helps every day to manage our technology. He makes sure all iPads are accounted for and plugged in so that they are ready for his classmates to use the next day. He helps our class be set up for success. Everything he does, he does with a great attitude. You can count on him to participate in class and to help his friends. Not only is he smart himself, but he helps other students with things that they don't understand. He is really a joy to teach!

Isadora is an amazing student and friend. Izzy shows up to school with the willingness to learn and grow from her school experiences. She is always ready to help her peers and her teacher and her positivity radiates through our classroom. She encourages her peers to be the best they can be and takes a genuine interest in their lives. Keep up the good work Izzy!

Ms. Prather serves a vital role in maximizing student achievement and growth. She works in partnership with teachers and families to help students explore their abilities, strengths, and talents to achieve success in the classroom.

North Families,

North Elementary Student Council hosted a Cystic Fibrosis coin fundraiser from February 28 - March 4. Students collected coins for this cause. The class that raised the most money won a pizza party and cupcakes. Second and third place received a cupcake party. Each day, Student Council picked up coins and announced totals donated each morning.

One in every thirty-five people is a symptomless carrier, so even if you don't know of someone personally that has Cystic Fibrosis, you or someone you know could be a carrier. Your coins will help those with Cystic Fibrosis that need life-saving treatments. Every penny helps!

Each month, students will participate in a day filled with engaging, quick review/pre-teach of concepts that data shows to be difficult for students to master. The day will allow students to rotate through many teachers so they are hearing and learning from other educators. Contents covered: math, reading, writing, science.

The 1st Annual MLK Black History Month Art Exhibit at Texas Tech's new Black Cultural Center and in the Peters Family Legacy Library. Only 64 works of art were submitted to the exhibit and North submitted 21 of them! We had 21 1st-5th graders. Our students worked on projects after school and at home. The theme of their artwork was "It Starts With Me: Cultivating A Beloved Community Mindset". We got to tour the TTU campus, did a coloring activity in the Black Cultural Center, and ate at one of the on-campus cafeterias. The kids had a blast!
