Disability Services Family,
Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to start the school year strong! This school year we have high expectations to provide you with the support and assistance you need for a successful school year.

Compliance and Esped
Updates:
- Please see the newly updated Transportation Training that includes Local Board Policy.

Upcoming PD: EPIC SATURDAY eSPED Training (Refresher) September 23rd
Inclusion & Resource
Updates:
- Make sure to put in all Resource Material Requests- requests are being fulfilled the week of 9/18-9/22.
- Review 3 week progress reports for students on your caseload and complete the Course Performance Review for students who are not passing.
- Reading Resource K-5- Make sure you have completed BOY testing for RGR and/or IMSE for appropriate program placement. BOY testing serves as baseline data for your students and can be used to assess progress this school year.
- CBA 1 (Curriculum Based Assessments) are coming up soon! The testing window is October 2-6. Accommodations should be provided per student IEPs. Please see District Assessment Accommodation Guide for more information.

Alternative Learning Environment
Updates:
- Please continue to submit your ALE schedules to your coordinator and program specialist.
- Reminder- all Autism Supplements and schedule pages need to be updated for the 23-24 school year.

Early Childhood Special Education
Updates: Entry COSFS are due for any student that started initial services at beginning of the school year. Please refer to the COSF Guidance Document.
Teacher Spotlight Mr. Hernandez at Herff Elementary School:
Mt. Hernandez has done an amazing job setting up a developmentally appropriate and engaging environment for your students! We would also like to commend you for helping with the new bilingual ECSE classroom… your team player attitude and heart for this work is to be admired!!
Behavior Support Classroom
Updates:
Rethink Reminders
- SEL direct instructions: Direct instruction is provided daily. You can use the scope and sequence or targeted instructions by needs of students using function based SEL Lessons (ES / MS).
- SEL Assessments: Have the students grades 3rd-8th completed the student self assessment. Teachers will complete the class assessment. 1st - 2nd can be given the self assessment by teacher. (Rethink SEL assessment link).
- Behavior Data tracker: Have all students behavior data in the behavior data tracker.

Please review the IHT flyer and consider becoming an in-home trainer.
Supplemental pay is provided for preparation and instruction.
Training is provided, as well.

Extended School Year Services
ESY Update: A Review ARD should be held during the first 6 weeks of school to address the student’s Progress.
- See Memorandum on data collection for ESY Goals and the review ARD for students who attended ESY 2023!
- MEMORANDUM to Principals dated 8/21/2023.
Reminder for all case managers: if you have identified a IEP Goal for ESY, collect one data point a week at least for each IEP Goal and enter data on Esped weekly.
