January Family Newsletter

The Student Council has been busy this fall! We took some time to clean trash off the grounds of our school campus. CCES students and staff also helped us have a successful sock donation drive for the homeless, and a food drive in December. Students who brought in items had the opportunity to decorate the student council bulletin board in the main hallway. We finished our December by being a part of the daily announcements with Mrs. Evans. Each student council member had the chance to come up with a 'Would you Rather?' question to ask our school community.

Every two weeks (roughly), our staff nominate each other to receive the CUBS award. CUBS stands for : Celebrating and Uplifting our Beloved Staff. This award is special because it is all about staff members recognizing each other! Staff members who receive the award are given a certificate of appreciation, Baxter the bear, and shoutouts on our app/newsletter/announcements. Be on the lookout for our announcements on our app!

Our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) team is thrilled with how well our students are responding to our PAWS tickets! When students are caught demonstrating being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible in the hallways, they will receive a PAWS ticket from any staff member!! The students bring back their PAWS tickets to their teachers, tell them why they earned it, and then it goes into their classroom envelope. Mrs. Evans is also sharing on the morning announcements how students earn PAWS tickets when they tell her! At our monthly PAWS assembly, we compile all the PAWS tickets and see if we earned our school-wide reward!! If they earn their reward, they get to spin the WHEEL OF WOW to see what reward they earned! In October, students earned an extra recess!! In November, students earned music in the hallways (we played Christmas music in the hallway for a week). In December, we unfortunately did not earn our school-wide reward, but they were SO CLOSE!!! During our assembly, we also pull two tickets to reward our staff for passing out PAWS tickets. Our PTO sponsors the prize for our staff! Ask your child if they have earned a PAWS ticket and why!

This year we're going to adopt "Spirit Fridays" here at CCES. We would like to invite our students and staff to wear red, white, or blue to school.
