Scholarship Award

Dana was recently awarded the VCSU McCready Scholarship. The McCready Scholarship is awarded to top students based on grade point averages, ACT/SAT test scores & also based on merit. It covers full tuition, books, and fees for all 4 years. Dana won this award due to her excellent academic achievements, as well as her character both in the classroom and in our community. Congratulations Dana!

Artist in Residence - The Film Dudes

Students grades 7-12 participated in various activities organized by the Film Dudes. Students learned about the storyboard process, film equipment, and media literacy. A core group of students worked on a larger project which resulted in the creation of a parody film trailer titled: "Paula Blart: Hall Cop". This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Earth Day

The Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science class spent Earth Day picking up trash around the Sargent Central school. The most common trash items were chip bags and styrofoam.

Bowling!

Students in Mr. Koppang's physical education classes enjoyed a bowling unit in April.

Child Development

Students have been working on studying the brain and brain development. They made a model of the brain and completed a variety of activities related to development.

Students practiced their attention to detail and fine motor skills by creating origami art.

Music

Students competed in the modified Regional/State music contest on April 10th. A total of 15 entries received regional stars, with 7 earning a state star. In addition, two entries earned Outstanding Performances: Ethan Bergeman in his vocal solo & Emily Hamilton and Ethan for their Flute/Baritone duet.
