Administrator's Update
Hello ÉCKS School Community,
It's great to connect with you again! It's hard to believe, but we are nearing the end of the school year. We can't thank our school community enough for all the support throughout the year.
The last instructional day for our students is June 29, 2021. Report cards will be issued to students on the afternoon of June 29, 2021. If you wish to pick up your child's report card, they will be available from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm on June 29, 2021. In the event your child is not in attendance that day, they will be mailed out on June 30, 2021.
Staffing Update 2021-2022 School Year
With the transition to a new year, schools often experience changes in staff. While our Administrative team stays the same for next year, you may hear a new voice when you call the school. Mrs. Sue Tomkow has announced her retirement after being with Battle River School Division for 13 years. Mrs. Leni Schielke, our current Learning Commons Facilitator was the successful applicant and will transition into the Administrator Assistant role starting in August.
Mr. Bailey and Ms. Bruce, who transitioned to At Home Learning for the 2020-2021 school year, will be returning to ÉCKS next year. We are excited to welcome them back. We are also excited to welcome Asa Bouck back to ÉCKS.
Kelsey Moore has been hired to replace Mme Heydorn while she continues her leave.
Mrs. Shaade remains on leave and Ms. Husli will continue to fill that role. We will also welcome Ms. Oslanski our team next year.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Vikse, Ms. Voytechek, Ms. Olsen, and Mrs. Repchuk will not be returning to Our House. We can't thank these individuals enough for their dedication and commitment to our students and our school community. We wish each one of them the best.
The Next Chapter for Mrs. Tomkow
I am looking forward to many more holidays, more golfing, gardening and most importantly spending more time with my everything, my Family.
I have met many wonderful people over the years and just want to say thank you for all the great memories. I will continue to live life to the fullest. Now onto the next chapter of my life - so excited!"

Options - Current Grade 6 and 7 Students
Students will need to make their choices by Tuesday, June 22nd. We ask our parents to take some time over the weekend to discuss this with their child. Students will be able to access the Google Form through their Grade Level Google Classroom.
Mental Health Capacity Builder - Self Care Summer
SELF-CARE SUMMER
Paying attention to our bodies and emotions, and doing the things we need to do to be well, is a no-brainer! As we look towards the summer, we encourage our students to practice some simple self-care strategies.

National Indigenous Peoples Day - June 21, 2021
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples.
Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs.
In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, the summer solstice, for National Aboriginal Day, now known as National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.
We encourage our students to wear orange on June 21, 2021!
Message from the Learning Commons
Library fines have been charged to parent accounts for library books that were not returned by the deadline, which was Monday, June 14th. Students received letters the week before. Please check your student fee accounts to see if this applies to your child. If a book is returned to Mrs. Schielke in the Learning Commons, the fee is removed immediately. The process is the same for textbooks, which are due on Monday, June 21.
Fees can be paid online through Rycor. Contact the office if you have any questions.
Camrose Police Service Survey
Hello everyone. The Camrose Police Service is looking for feedback from students, parents and school staff on the School Resource Officer program that they run in partnership with our school division.
Over the last couple of years, the School Resource Officer has transitioned from offering the "D.A.R.E" program to a more modern program called "C.O.R.E." The School Resource Officer also works with schools on things like lockdown drills, preventive threat assessments, volunteering at school events and providing other assistance to schools when needed.
As they plan for the future, the Camrose Police Service would appreciate having your input, through an anonymous and voluntary survey. Thanks for making time to complete the 10 questions by June 25.
