November 2022
Principal's Message
This past month, the school community has been bursting with energy and school spirit. Between the Friday "Pink-outs" to raise awareness for breast cancer and wearing red on Wednesdays to "Boo Bullying", the entire Tuscarora community continues to model RISE (Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence).
During the month of November, we celebrate Native American Heritage month, honoring the culture, history, and contributions of the Native American peoples. We would like to express a special thanks to America's indigenous peoples in our community for your contributions to our community and our country. For more information about Native American Heritage month, please visit https://nativeamericanheritagemonth.gov/ and the National Congress of American Indians.
On November 11th, we celebrate Veterans Day. We would like to acknowledge and thank the veterans on our staff and in our community. We are grateful to you and your families for your service to our country.
As we close out the first quarter and begin our second quarter of school, I encourage students and families to continue to connect with teachers and staff in support of your student's success. First quarter grades are expected to be accessible on StudentVue and ParentVue by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7th.
Parents are invited to discuss student progress during our Parent/Teacher conference day that is held on Tuesday, November 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. No appointments are necessary.
In this newsletter, you will find information to keep you connected with the school and upcoming events. Please let us know how we can support you and help your student succeed.

🍎Academic Updates🍏
Lord of the Flies
Tickets for Lord of the Flies - Nov 10, 11,12, 17,18,19 (Cappies).
All tickets sold electronically!
William Golding’s 1954 novel "Lord of the Flies" tells the story of a group of young boys who find themselves alone on a deserted island. They develop rules and a system of organization, but without any adults to serve as a civilizing impulse, the children eventually become violent and brutal. In the context of the novel, the tale of the boys' descent into chaos suggests that human nature is fundamentally savage. Recommended for ages 8th grade and up.

Our next EL Parent Night is scheduled for February. More information about this event will be coming in the next few months.
During the month of November, the EL Department will be teaching our newcomer students about family traditions as well as Thanksgiving traditions, and students will engage in a hands on Pumpkin Pie making activity!!
