No Name Calling Week January 21-25
No Name Calling Week is a national observance to call attention to the need to be kind and respectful toward others and to appreciate what is unique about each of us. To support this, we are asking everyone to think about how words and actions can hurt. We will challenge ourselves to use kind words and do kind deeds and see how good it feels to be both on the giving and receiving ends of such words and actions. During this week all students will hear a story titled "I Am Human!" by Susan Verde and will engage in activities related to the book. On Thursday, January 24th we will celebrate "Proud to be Me Day" --a favorite with our students and staff. This is a special Spirit Day in which each student and staff member gets to come to school dressed up in something special that celebrates his/her personality and interests. Students and staff can come dressed as an Irish Dancer, a Sports Player, someone from a favorite book or movie such as Harry Potter or Star Wars—whatever expresses some aspect of one’s personality and interests! Creativity is encouraged! At Bethel Springs we always strive to be kind and respectful toward others, but No Name Calling Week is a time to give this extra emphasis.
