March Update

I am not sure where February went so fast, but here it is March. There is something to be said about that old adage, "Time sure flies when you are having a good time!". Lots of great things are happening here at GES.

Many of you are aware the mask mandate will lift at midnight on March 11th, 2022. This means that face coverings will be optional for students and staff while indoors and on the school bus. Please discuss this with your child this change, and make sure they know what your expectation for wearing a face-covering is. The District Admin Team posted a draft of the Continuity of Instruction Plan on the District Webpage for people to view and provide input. There are registration forms for Glide Rec softball, baseball, and Spring soccer in the front hall. Soccer forms are due by Monday, March 7th. Softball and baseball forms need to be turned in by April 1st. You may call the office to request a form to be sent home with your student.

The meeting will include planning for the upcoming basketball tournament/ free throw contest fundraiser that will happen later this month. Please consider joining the meeting to see how you can help. The proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to create an outdoor basketball court.

All students in grades third - sixth will participate in Smarter Balanced Assessments later this Spring. All students will take a Language Arts and Mathematics assessment. In addition to the Language Arts and Math assessments, fifth graders will take a Science assessment.

March 31st: Sixth Grade Field Trip to Crater Lake (8:30-3:15)

March 31st: Blue and Gold Day, assembly at 12:45
