Happy April SIS Families!

These past few weeks have been nothing short of unexpected. I know that this isn't what we envisioned when we thought about our return from spring break, but I know that we are a strong community united through faith, love, and hope! I know that we will get through this together and come out stronger because of it.

I miss being able to see everyone each day. I miss walking the halls and being stopped by excited students eager to share their day with me. I miss the little conversations and connections as parents stop in the office. I miss the staff and all the interactions throughout the day. I look forward to the day we are all back together!

Please know that we are here for you. We are here to talk, support, and listen. Don't hesitate to reach out and connect with your child's teacher, our school counselor, nurse, or myself. I am always available to zoom as well. We are stronger together, so reach out whenever you need anything or have questions.

Looking for ways to help your student stay engaged during the closure? Don't forget to visit our enrichment plans page on the district website. Our teachers have prepared a wide array of activities and learning resources for families and students to use while we wait to return to school. All activities and resources are optional and not required at this time. The pages will be updated weekly, with new activity and resource options for your student and family to enjoy.

Foundation 2 will continue to provide crisis services for youth in need of support. Their crisis services are free, confidential, and available 24/7. Mobile Crisis Outreach is able to provide telehealth services in lieu of face to face. To access this service, individuals will need an internet connection, smart device (phone,tablet,computer), and an email address. Support via phone is also available for those unable to access telehealth. They are still working closely with our community partners to continue to assist youth and their families with being able to access expedited mental health and substance use evaluations as appropriate. In addition to Mobile Crisis Outreach, the Foundation 2 Crisis Center is also available for support over the phone or via text/chat. Both Mobile Crisis Outreach and the Crisis Center can be reached at (319)362-2174. Chat and text can be utilized through accessing the Foundation 2 website at www.foundation2.org.

We encourage all SIS students to continue their acts of kindness from home! Please add any acts of kindness to our padlet board. We will add links to our chain as new posts pop up! Thanks for doing your part in spreading kindness to all <3
