Welcome Back!
Welcome to a new school year! I am excited for the start of the school year. Ewing Young is a truly special school and community, and on behalf of all of our staff we welcome everyone. Thank you to those of you who were able to make it to Supply Night this week. It was great to see all of our returning families and welcome all of our new families.
As we start this school year it is important for me to connect with all of our families so when you see me around the school, make sure to say hello. I believe the school and home relationship is crucial to the overall education process, so please reach out to me if you need anything. See you all soon!

Countless possibilities ahead
Our kindergarten students had a chance to ride the bus during Jump Start. They are ready for the adventures that lay ahead while at Ewing Young.
Supply Night
It was great to see our students and families fill the school during our supply night.
EYST and the Playground
Our parent club, EYST, has done a great job of fundraising for new playground equipment.
New Faces
There will be a few new faces joining the Ewing Young staff this fall. We are excited to be having a couple of new classrooms this year to help drive our class sizes down. Teaching our second class of kindergarten students this year is Mrs. Estevez. Joining the team in our second group of 1st graders we have a combination of Mrs. Willcuts and Mrs. Lampkin. To support out students in a variety of ways we welcome Mrs. Sackett to the Ewing Young family. Finally, in our evening custodial position we welcome Mrs. Arredondo-Tejeda.
Important First Week of School Information
Welcome to the first week of school at Ewing Young! School starts promptly at 8:30 AM. Our doors open to students at 8 AM. On the first day of school, parents are welcome to send their children off to class in the school gym. We host a "Boo Hoo Breakfast" for our new families with coffee and donuts in the school cafeteria at 8:30 AM.
Student Pick-up
At the end of the day we will be releasing students at 3:10 for dismissal. For the students that are getting picked up by car or by walk-up please meet your son or daughters at the front doors. In order to make this process go smoothly we ask that parents wait outside of the front doors. Over the first two weeks this process takes a little more time, but once we have our routines in place this process goes smoothly. Thank you in advance for understanding and helping to ensure all students get to their rides quickly.
Keeping our School Safe
We take the safety and security of our students very serious. Our school is a "lock-out" facility, with doors closed and locked when students are present.
- We use the RAPTOR system to screen all visitors. We require all visitors to check-in at the office with a valid drivers license.
- Volunteers must have a Newberg School District issued badge. Paper work can be picked up in the school office. Please allow time to process volunteer applications. Volunteers must sign in at the school office with the Raptor system.
Back-2-School Night
Please mark your calendars for our Back-2-School Night on September 19th from 6 - 7 pm. This is a great opportunity to hear from your teacher about the upcoming school year.
Outdoor Recess
This year with our addition of new classrooms, we have had to adjust our schedule to allow for more physical education and music classes. Due to this change we will be having some classes in the gym during lunch recess times. This means that we will not have access to indoor recess this year when it is raining. We will be using the covered area and the library if needed to support our students during this time. Please remind your students to dress accordingly on cold or rainy days so they are prepared.
Student Bags
We will continue to use our student bags that are provided by our Ewing Young Support Team (EYST). For our returning students please continue to use your current bag, while our new students will receive a bag within the first few days.
