Principal's Messages
Season's Greetings, Chester Ronning School Community!
The holiday season is upon us and I imagine that most students and staff will be very glad to have some time off to rest, recharge and generally do something different from their studies and classes!
As we do every year as the holiday season approaches, CRS teachers have been planning fun learning opportunities for the students over the past several days. Holiday-themed P.E. activities are happening every day in the gym, a few literacy groups have been engaged in festive reader's theatre activities, some of our STEAM classes have been designing and fabricating unique games that students may gift to family or friends and plenty more! The halls are decorated with Christmas crafts and artwork, students have been learning Christmas songs in their music classes and we've just started gathering for daily caroling in the gym. CRS is full of Christmas cheer!
Additionally, our second annual Christmas Activity Night is upcoming next week on Monday, December 18th. The forecast is for cooperative weather so we are looking forward to an enjoyable event and hope to see you there.
I hope that all of our CRS families enjoy a happy holiday and we will look forward to all of the students' return in the New Year. Our office will be closed during the break but, if you need to reach someone, please submit an email through the contact page on our website as I plan to periodically check for messages throughout the holidays.
Please note that classes resume on Thursday, January 4th, which is a full-day of school. Normally, the first Thursday of the month is early dismissal but the January early-out is actually happening on January 11th. Hopefully this won't cause too much confusion - we are glad that our first day of classes after the break will be a full, regular day!
In addition to Christmas, a number of cultural and religion celebrations take place at this time of year. However you celebrate the holidays, on behalf of the entire CRS staff, I'd like to wish you a very safe and happy time to rest and enjoy your loved ones during this festive season. We look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year!
Merry Christmas!
Reid Lansing

Chester Ronning School Office
CRS Office hours are: 8am - 12pm and 12:30pm - 3:30pm. We will be closed from Dec. 21-Jan. 3 and will re-open Jan. 4 at 8am.
If you are calling and don't reach anyone, please leave a message or try again. We do our best to answer every phone call, but taking care of a student always comes first and we occasionally may miss a call, so leave us a message or try again. We have had a couple of parents say that the voicemail doesn't pick up for them to leave a message, if you are also finding this is still happening, please let us know so we can get it fixed.
As Mrs. MacKay and Mrs. Beck are job sharing and have days that we won't be in the office, if you are emailing about daily attendance absences, please use this email instead to allow for both admin assistants to see the message: chesterronning-aa@brsd.ab.ca
Welcome
We are excited to have Ms. Klein as a new EA at Chester Ronning! She will be supporting the Kindergarten Class, and Grades 1 & 2.
Thank you and Goodbye
Thank you to Ms. Salois who shared her practicum with 1 B. We wish you well in completing the rest of your schooling!
Thank you to Ms. McDonough you assisted in Kindergarten and Grades 1 &2. Good luck in your new endeavors!
Thank you to Mr. Mueller who performed his practicum with 5M. We wish you well in your continued studies.
I would like to thank everyone for your support during the Scholastic book fair in October.
It was a great success! We received 181 new books from Scholastics for the learning commons.
In the next few months I will be purchasing a few more books from the money raised.
Thank you to the Chester Ronning Staff that helped out on family night. I especially would like to thank the 5M class, and MIchelle MacLeod for helping set up. I would also like to thank Bonnie Radchenko, Hailey Rees, and Kristie O'Riordan for their help during class times.
Book fair is an important part of the learning commons, to be able to add more books to our collection for students to read.
Thanks again
Mrs. Green

School Attendance
Did you know that all BRSD Schools have attendance policies?
The CRS Attendance Policy has been updated and posted to our website. Please review it by clicking HERE. We know that school attendance is an important factor for students to achieve their greatest successes. Our updated policy will be rolled out in earnest when we return in the New Year.
We endeavor to have all students' attendance entered before 8:45 am. After 8:45 am, our Messenger system will start calling and emailing any student that has been marked absent, with no parent call. This helps to ensure our students are safe.
Our phone lines can be very busy, so please leave a message or try again if you don't reach anyone.
Students who arrive late, can come in through the front door and we will sign them in and send them off to their class.
