Visit Your School's STEM Expo!
Due to the generous support of community donations to the Los Altos Educational Foundation (LAEF), each LASD school hosts an amazing showcase of student STEM projects each year. Students in grades TK-6 design hands-on projects while exploring just how fun STEM can be.
Visit your school's website to learn more about the STEM Expo and be sure to visit with your child, even if they are not entering a project. The student work is remarkable and inspiring for all.
The STEM Expos provide a variety of learning experiences. Students work individually or collaboratively with their peers or with adults amongst a wide range of STEM categories. Ultimately, students get the chance to showcase their science work in a fun and unique venue, with learning opportunities for the entire family.
If you have not had a chance to support LAEF this year, we encourage you to consider a contribution. All funds raised support excellent programs for all students in our schools. Click here to donate today! To learn more about LAEF and the critical programs it supports in our schools, click here.

Junior High Field Trips: Yosemite and Disneyland
Both of these experiences allow students to explore their education in science and music, and grow independently through exciting field trips. In Yosemite, students stay in cabins, hike the gorgeous national park and see the science they have studied up close and personal in the nature that surrounds them. On the Disneyland field trip, student musicians and singers learn from a guest conductor at Disneyland, exploring and sharing their musical talents with others. And of course, exploring their independence through the park is a lifelong memory our students cherish.
We are so thrilled to share these experiences with our students again, watching them grow and explore their education in new and exciting ways.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, adolescents are exposed to 14,000 references to sexuality per year. Do those references communicate healthy sexuality that is safe, responsible, pleasurable and grounded in authentic connection? Or do they communicate negative gender roles and dynamics and emphasize performance sex?
If you're not talking to your kids about sex, you're the only one not talking to your kids about sex. Join us for a conversation on how to approach these challenging and courageous conversations. Learn how to discuss safe sexuality practices, the importance of consent, and the value of relationships grounded in authentic connection through the conscious practice of care and dignity
Shafia Zaloom, veteran sex educator and author of the newly released book, Sex, Teens, & Everything in Between, will guide us toward a deeper understanding of how to encourage our children to embrace a healthier, more joyful, and responsible understanding of sexuality.
