The Mechanical Clock
This tool helped people tell time without looking at the sun
Galileo Galilei Came up with the idea for the mechanical clock.
He Had studied the movement of the pendulum as early as 1582. But his design for his clock was not created until after his death.
Christian Huygens made the first pendulum clock.
This Dutch scientist had given life to the worlds first pendulum clock in 1665. It ran by mechanisms with a natural period of keeping time. Galileo has been mistaken as the one who created the clock but he did not.
How did the Mechanical clock work in the renaissance
The clocks were very inaccurate. The mechanical clocks were used for knowing when it was time to pray. The fact that they were used for praying it led to much more accurate clocks. The clocks were very large and very heavy. They were also very beautiful.
Has the purpose of the clock changed since then.
It is used for knowing when to pray because of some individuals. But to others, it is now used to seem as sophisticated. Or even just for fashion. It also has the plus of telling us the time. But now we have smartwatches that connect to our phones and we can text on them.
This is the style of clocks
This is an example of the type of clocks in the homes of people.
