Third grade learned about ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle this week. Students took part in a Garbage Challenge by reusing things that they would have otherwise thrown away.

Please note that there has been a schedule change for 4th grade. They will now be taking their STAAR Math test on May 9 along with 5th grade.

Our students worked really hard tackling the STAAR Reading and STAAR Science (5th grade) tests! We are so proud of their efforts!

While we recognize that our students are more than a test score, we do want them to excel in everything they do, including state testing!

We continue to encourage our students to put forth their best efforts in everything that they do so that each assignment they submit is something that they can take pride in and that they would be proud to show their parents and loved ones.

Here are a few tips to help your child and our Super Scholars have the best day possible:

• Get plenty of rest!
• Eat a healthy breakfast.
• Dress comfortably
• Start your day peacefully.
• Arrive on time.
• Think positive thoughts!
• Don't stress and do your best!

As we prepare for our next round of tests please remind your child that:

• They are capable!
• They can do hard things!
• They are what excellence looks like!

Parents, we are seeing an increase in students bringing toys, jewelry kits, and other unnecessary items from home. This causes distractions and sometimes conflict at school. Please help us by making sure your child/children are only bringing items that are necessary for school, unless special permission has been given and communicated to you by the teacher.

We make student and staff safety a priority at RES! One new safety feature we are implementing is that you MUST present a state issued photo ID to be permitted to visit our campus. Your ID will be kept in the front office while you are on campus. Your ID will be returned when you check out in the front office. This will help us keep track of anyone on campus in the event of an emergency. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Also, be prepared to show a photo ID when checking students out early.
