We are looking forward to seeing you today at conferences. Conferences begin at 2:10 and end at 8:00. We know you are busy, and we appreciate you visiting WMS. Students are encouraged to attend as well! Of course, we'll have cookies available for our visitors.

Communication between the school and home is so important. Some individuals might think that since children are in middle school communication between school and home is not as necessary. The educational research, and I, would disagree. As children become more independent, communication is necessary to help support their independence and choices. Conferences are one way we do this. We want to work with families to help students BE THEIR BEST, DO THEIR BEST, and GROW EVEN BETTER!

Please stop by the main office to pick up mid-term reports. Also, we will have examples of our WMS Spirit wear and order forms you can pick up. There will also be paper forms for our upcoming fundraiser available.

Conferences are held in teachers' classrooms. Please visit teachers in the order you'd prefer.

Track Season and Eligibility Dates

The beginning of our WMS Track Season will be there before you know it! Our WMS Track Team is excited to have all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders interested join the team. The first practice will be on March 20th.

Here are important dates to note for those participating in WMS Track.

March 20th- First Practice, time TBD
March 22nd- Beginning of Season Eligibility Check
April 3rd- Week Before Eligibility Determination Check
April 13th- Eligibility Determination for the remaining season
May 13th- Conference Track Meet

WMS' Charleston Wrap Fundraiser

It's that time of year! Our school fundraiser is here. It officially starts Wednesday, February 22nd through March 10th!

Our school fundraiser is through Charleston Wrap and it is all online. There is no pickup or delivery required. Items purchased from our students get directly delivered to the address buyers choose!

After speaking to 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students, we will use the funds to continue the efforts to improve the playground area for students and purchase rocker chairs for students to use in class.

It is as easy as 1, 2, 3 to support WMS Middle School.

1. Register. Use the QR code to access the site. Remember, our Organization ID is 25721.

2. Share your link with everyone you know. It can be shared through text, social media, and email! It can even be shared by those who you share it with!

3. SHOP!

I have also added the link to the directions as well.

The highest-selling students and homeroom will win prizes! Not to mention raffle drawings will be held for prizes throughout our fundraiser.

Sharing the Love

Mrs. Knudson's class created their own heart family tree. They also wrote valentines to seniors to brighten their day and to know that others are thinking of them.

Perseverance!

Perseverance is an important character trait AND is hard to apply in life. This mindset can be developed through modeling, support, taking those first steps, and then trying it all over again. Mrs. Lynn's Homeroom has spent time reflecting on times when they have shown perseverance.

The Walls of the Art Room

Did you know all the Art on our Art Room walls was created by 8th-graders over the years? We have such talented artists at WMS. We are so lucky to have their art on our walls to remind us of them.

There has been exciting progress in our cafeteria! The crew has been working hard to complete the repairs as soon as possible. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.

To the left is a sneak peek of just a corner of the awesome things happening in our cafeteria. It will be an amazing space for students.

From the Desk of Mr. Swanson

Relationships are on my mind this time of year. Valentine’s Day forces all of us to think about relationships for at least one day of the year. The romantic relationships that Valentine’s Day chooses to focus on do not draw my attention. What are the relationships in your life that are most valuable to you?

The relationships I value the most are those with my family and friends. A good relationship is like a plant. It has to be nurtured and tended to thrive. As parents, we have to serve the role of a faithful gardener to our children. Do not let things take root where they do not belong. If we allow seeds of dissent to settle in our garden, weeds of insubordination and disrespect will blossom and flourish within the fertile soil.

What are you doing to show those around you that you value your relationship with them? The accurate measure of how much we value others is how much time we devote to them. This time doesn’t have to be structured time. You can sit around putting together a puzzle or playing a board game. Have dinner together. Be intentional in setting aside time for those you love. Make time for those that matter.
