AVA Family Update

January 20, 2023

AVA Family UpdateJanuary 20, 2023

Good afternoon AVA Families,

Next week is our first "normal" week in some time. The schedule is pictured below.

I have two significant and related items for grades 9 through 11. We are beginning our course selection process, and we need to hear from you about what your intentions are for next year. Next week, we will be sending out a quick survey as to whether you are staying with us, heading back to in-person AHS, or something else. While not a binding decision, we will do the course selection process for the school you think you will be in next year, but please know that if you change your mind about this choice later, you will be at a disadvantage compared to others who get their schedules built now. The later in the year you change your mind, the worse the disadvantage becomes. Ms. Ng has more information that will benefit those who are coming back to in-person AHS in her update below.

Related to this course selection, and again benefitting students and families who are thinking of AHS in-person next year, is Blue Pride Night. It's the AHS open house and highlights the sports, activities, clubs, and CTE programs available in the new state-of-the-art building. It's Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Please come by if you are interested. I'll be there as well.

Thank you for your time.

Guidance Update

Grades 9-11 - AHS Course Offerings for Next Year

Communication and a brief survey will be sent in the upcoming week or so about next-year enrollment plans. In the meantime, below are links to the AHS Program of Studies 23-24 DRAFT and Course List to inform current AVA students and families about what courses, old and new, will be offered on campus next school year. For students and families interested in returning to campus next year, please read thoroughly and carefully to help in your decision-making.

Grades 9-12 - NCAA Registration

This is a kind reminder to students and families who are interested in participating in collegiate sports to register online with the NCAA. Although you may register even after high school graduation, we recommend doing so while still enrolled in high school to ensure a smoother transfer of school records and information. AVA's CEEB code for NCAA registration is: 220067.
