Discovering the Root Causes of Disruptive Classroom Behavior
Learn how to evaluate underlying causes of many disruptive behaviors. Receive an overview of mental health disorders that may manifest in the classroom and strategies for responding to problem behavior. Review various social and emotional factors that may contribute to problematic behavior. Cover topics such as social skills, impairment & intervention, mental health disorders, anxiety and stress in children, self-injury, and self-esteem. Learn to address violent behavior & students in crisis.

What Every Teacher Should Know About Teaching English Language Learners
What Every Teacher Should Know about Teaching English Learners is a course designed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills and strategies needed to effectively support multilingual learners in diverse educational settings. The goal of this course is to introduce the policies and procedures that surround the English Language Learners in your classroom including roles and responsibilities of educators. The course is designed for educators K-12 who teach content specific courses and have English Language Learners in their classroom.

Mindfulness for Educators and Their Students
Mindfulness for Educators and Their Students is designed to examine the theory and practice of mindfulness and how it can influence both the personal and professional life of a teacher. Basic mindfulness practices, neuroscience, identification of thoughts and emotions, and mindful communication practice will be explored, as well as applying these practices/concepts to both personal and professional situations.

AI for Educators
The course goes beyond theoretical foundations by providing practical experience with AI tools and technologies. It focuses on practical applications of AI in education, such as personalized learning, intelligent tutoring systems, and educational productivity tools. The course covers current trends and future directions in AI education, Ethical considerations with AI are addressed, such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the digital divide. The course requires students to think critically about the use of AI in education and to evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of different AI applications. Students are required to write and communicate effectively about AI and its applications in education. The course includes rigorous assessments that require students to demonstrate their understanding of the course material. These assessments include research papers, projects, presentations, and discussions The course fosters collaboration and peer learning through forums.

Motivating and Inspiring Today’s Students: Strategies, Methods, and Materials to Awaken the Learner
Motivating students is a paramount concern for classroom teachers. This class is intended to not only motivate students but also to inspire the teacher! The course will provide the needed stimulating tools for pre-K to 12 educators to create classrooms in which students are motivated and inspired to learn. Research in the areas of motivation and students’ needs from recognized experts in the field will be presented. This will be followed by practical application of the concepts through employing effective strategies and materials that welcome engagement. The modules in the class will provide much variety through analyzing videos, powerpoints, readings, applying strategies, responding to participants and motivational techniques along with materials to develop that produce desired results. The text for the class is Motivating and Inspiring Students: Strategies to Awaken the Learner(2017) by Marzano, Scott, Boogren and Newcomb.

Supporting English Learners in Any Classroom
This three-credit course offers professional development to both new and seasoned teachers at any grade level and in any content. Participants will first explore an overview of ESL education in Pennsylvania including how students are identified, assessed and
exited from ESL programs. Further, participants will review key points in second language acquisition, the importance of students’ first language and culture, and the value of family communication. The course further calls on participants to recognize ELs’ potential barriers to learning and subsequently identify possible solutions. Participants will learn the importance of knowing their students’ language proficiency levels and using WIDA’s Can Do Descriptors when differentiating and modifying content. In summary, participants will learn to identify and understand the needs of English learners, implement strategies for modifying academic content for better understanding, and put their new skills into practice.
