A Note from your PSO
Even though there are just a few short weeks left of the school year, we have been keeping our Mary Woodward families busy! We had an amazing Multicultural Night with so much participation from students, families and staff! What a wonderful opportunity to learn about and celebrate the many cultures that make up our school community. We had our first annual Family Dance last weekend, where families were able to boogie down with both family and friends. We are looking forward to the return of the school wide Carnival in just a few short days with games, food and fun to be had by all! Last, but not least, is field day! You know school is nearing an end when field day is approaching.
With so many activities, we have relied on all of you for your generous donation of both time and talents. The PSO would like to thank each of you for your continued support. You help us make each and every event not only fun, but successful!
Did you know that the PSO has a long list of committees for each of the activities/events that we host? Now that you have seen all of these fun events in person, maybe you have identified one (or more) that you would like to help out with for next year. If you have something in mind, or would even just like more information, let us know! We are always in need of volunteers.
Help us keep the momentum going for the kids to finish the school year strong!

Adopt the Mary Woodward Garden
We are asking families to adopt the garden for one week during the summer. Just before your week starts, you'll get an email stating what needs to be done in the garden and what is ripe to be picked. Then you bring your family to complete the tasks any time during the week. The food you harvest is yours to keep and you can cut yourself a fresh bouquet too.
Please check out the remaining spaces here and select one that will work for you.
Lost and Found
Everything that isn't claimed will be donated at the end of the school year.
2023-24 Committee Chairs Needed!
It is time to start looking forward to next year and planning for all the fun events to come.
We are currently in need of people to take on the following roles:
- Bingo Co-Chair: help to plan and organize this VERY popular event with a seasoned pro who has agreed to stay on but would like some help
- Book Fair Co-Chair: help advertise and organize the fall and spring book fairs with the help of a co-chair who has done this for years and welcomes help
- Donation Coordinator: solicit and manage donations throughout the year to support various school events
- Family Dance: help plan all the details of the second family dance
- Movie Night Chair: take the lead on this event by choosing the date, movie and concessions
These roles can each be filled by one person or a small team of people, whatever works for you! If you are interested in either position or want to learn more, please contact Stacey Beckman at volunteers@marywoodwardpso.com.
Thank you to Brenna Yard and Alicia Wherry who will manage OBOB for next year. Also, thank you to Claire Juarez for returning as the Art Lit chair next year!
Reimbursement for Class and Committee Expenses
Check requests for other committees or events should be sent to the appropriate Committee Chair for approval.
The sooner you turn in your receipts the better! But all receipts must be in by June 16 to ensure they are processed in the correct tax year.
May Recap
We had some BIG events this month!
First, the Multicultural Fair was a huge hit. So many families gathered to celebrate and experience elements of different cultures. Amy Krebs and her team pulled off a very successful night with food, entertainment and crafts. Kids and adults were talking about what a great event this was for days afterwards.
We also had the school's first ever Family Dance where Stacey Ranft and her team of supporters created a magical evening of Dancing Under the Stars. Inside was dancing, crafts and a photographer. And the gaga pit outside drew a small crowd too. Many kids dressed up and wore glowing accessories to jam with the DJ in the darkened cafeteria.
Both events provided a great chance for kids to visit with friends outside of a classroom structure. There was no ignoring the big smiles on little faces.
Thank you to all the volunteers who not only helped in the planning of these events, but helped during the events. It isn't easy to give up family time to volunteer, and we appreciate your willingness more than you'll ever know!
Yearbook
The Yearbook is officially off to print! Thank you to Megan Wise and Amanda Fullerton who did the bulk of the yearbook planning and creation. It was no small feat and they were burning the midnight oil getting the dance pages completed right before the deadline.
The yearbook will be delivered to school the week of June 12 and sent home with students. If your student will not be at school that week, please contact yearbook@marywoodwardpso.com to make other arrangements.
If you still want to buy a yearbook, you can! Use the link below and pay for shipping and it will be sent right to your house.

Soaring Eagle Volunteer Parking Space
The next drawing will take place on May 31. To get your name in the parking space raffle you can do any of the following:
- volunteer 1 hour in the month -- as recorded in HelpCounter
- attend a PSO meeting
- chair a committee
Completing any of these multiple times means more tickets in the raffle. So if you volunteer 5 hours in the month, come to the PSO meeting and chair a committee, you will get 7 tickets in the raffle. If you're unsure how to update your hours in HelpCounter, please refer to Recording Volunteer Hours here.
Bottle Drop for the Summer
As you know, Mary Woodward PSO has a Bottle Drop account where you just fill up a blue bag with your redeemable cans and bottles and drop it off at a Bottle Drop center. This is your friendly reminder to plan ahead for the summer and grab a couple of extra bags! They can be found in the office. If you'd like to get an entire box of 10 bags, please contact Stacey at volunteers@marywoodwardpso.com.
