Potential Late Start on Monday, March 4th
Message from Dr. Jones:
The weather conditions on Monday, March 4 may again offer an opportunity to use a 2-hour late start. No decision has been made at this time, but conditions on Monday morning may be conducive for a late start. The predicted winter storm may drop significant snowfall on Sunday. The snowfall is expected to be followed by cold temperatures overnight Sunday. We will know more by Sunday evening.
This event may actually allow for a decision to be made on Sunday night. There are three options: Normal day, 2-hour late start, or no school. Based on what weather forecasts (Situation Report) are currently showing a normal school day is unlikely, but I wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible.
If a 2-hour late start is decided, all school functions will begin exactly 2 hours later than normal. Busses will begin their routes exactly 2 hours later than normal. Bus pick ups will be exactly 2 hours (give or take a few minutes) later than normal. Parents may drop students off at school at 9:30 AM (2 hours later than the normal 7:30 AM). No breakfast will be served. Lunch will be served as normal. School will be dismissed at its normal time.
If school is delayed or cancelled, we will use the normal means of communication to notify parents and students.
Announcement from the School Nurse
The State of Missouri requires 2 doses of meningitis before entering the 12th grade. Most students entering 12th grade received their first dose when they were younger and now need a second dose or booster. The booster is needed because protection from the vaccine decreases over time. The ONLY teen who will not need a second dose before 12th grade are those who got their first dose on or after their 16th birthday.
Families who received letters should provide documentation of the vaccination before or at the time of fall registration.
