Principal's Message
Though cell phone usage is typically an issue in middle and high school, more students at the elementary school level have access to their own cell phones. The Warwick School Department with the support of the Warwick School Committee has updated its cell phone policy for all students. If your child is allowed to bring a cell phone to school, that cell phone MUST be powered off and stored in your child's backpack. At no time during the school day, may your child have access to a cell phone. Warwick is a one to one device district which means that each student has access to a Chromebook and/or iPad during the school day for instructional purposes. If your child needs to make a phone call, they can do so from the main office, principal's office or nurse's office.
Below is the policy in its entirety.
ELECTRONIC DEVICES IN SCHOOL
The Warwick School Committee recognizes the impact that advances in technology can have on education; however, they also recognize that inappropriate use of personal cellular phones and other technology devices during instructional time can often disrupt student learning. The Warwick School Committee is committed to providing a safe, positive and productive learning environment for its students. The Warwick School Committee holds high expectations for student behavior, academic integrity and responsible use of existing and emerging technologies capable of capturing and/or transmitting data or images.
Students who possess and/or use such devices at school or school sponsored events shall demonstrate the greatest respect for the educational environment and the rights and privacy of all individuals within the school community.
The Warwick School District accepts no responsibility for cell phones or other personal electronic devices that are lost, damaged, or stolen at school or while traveling to and from school. Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices must be powered/turned off and kept out of sight during school hours unless otherwise directed by individual teachers or administrators in their classrooms.
Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices may not be used to:
● disrupt classroom lessons with ringtones, beeping, or sounds of any kind.
● photograph, record, or film others without their consent.
● record a disruption on campus that can be used to degrade, threaten, intimidate, or dehumanize the
person(s) involved
● take pictures or record in school activity private areas such as locker rooms, counseling sessions,
restrooms, and/or dressing areas
● send or display pornographic or inappropriate messages, pictures or images including sexting
● capture, record, and/or transmit test information or any other information in a manner constituting fraud,
theft, cheating, or academic dishonesty
● receive test information or any other information in a manner constituting fraud, theft, cheating, or
academic dishonesty
● bully, humiliate, harass, or intimidate school-related individuals or violate local, state, or federal laws
Warwick Public Schools, Warwick, Rhode Island
Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action up to and including confiscation of the personal
device.
Office phones are available for emergency use.

Important Messages from our PTA!
So Much Learning and Fun this Week!
Message from Ms. Greene Math Intervention Specialist
some children can be successful at math, or that math is some sort of a “gift” that some
children have and some do not. This idea permeates American (and other) societies but
it has been completely disproved by the science of the brain and learning. The idea that
some children can do well in math and some can’t is a damaging myth that is harmful to
children’s mathematical development."
This quote is powerful and illustrates how a positive mindset can truly impact your child's ability in mathematics. I have linked the full article below which has great suggestions for parents and how they can best support their students.
STEM is coming to Holliman and how you can help!!!!
In the coming weeks STEM bins/carts will be available for classroom teachers to sign out for their classrooms. Some of the items in the bins are disposable items and easily replaceable. Listed below are items that we will need on an ongoing basis and if you can help donate these items, it would be greatly appreciated. Some items are not disposable but you may have in your house and are looking to purge (LEGO bricks, dominoes, wood blocks, magnetic tiles, Lincoln logs, etc).

School breakfast and Lunch
A Message from Aramark Food Services
Sysco drivers/workers are still on strike and we are not getting normal deliveries. We do not know when they will show up or what they will bring us from what we ordered. We have only received one delivery since 9/29 and we can longer serve the menu as written. Next week we will be limiting the number of menu offerings daily. We will send out the menu choices each morning (if we can send out the afternoon before we will). If we do receive Sysco we can increase offerings, but if not we will be limiting to 2 choices on most days.
At this time we will have enough food to feed all the students, but the menu choices and offerings will be limited, and last-minute menu change notice will occur based on when Sysco arrives. We do have a local vendor we will be using to get basic necessities until the strike is over. Our bread and milk are coming as usual as well as produce (Fruits and vegetables).
As previously announced, the National School Lunch Program is back and the program that provided free breakfast and lunch for all students has ended.
It is very important that you visit the Titan Family Portal and/or visit The WPS School Meals website page where you can complete an application for free/reduced lunch, adds funds to your child's breakfast lunch account and view breakfast and lunch menus.
It is encouraged that all families to complete the free/reduced meal form.
