Term 3 Week 8
8 September 2023
Gumboots and smiles
Wow! What an awesome turnout we had for our Annual School Cross Country. Thankfully the weather played ball with just enough rain on Thursday to ensure that gumboots were needed on the field on Friday. I especially enjoy watching Cross Country as I have the privilege of watching the students practice and strive to get better. I also have the pleasure of seeing the joy on kids' faces as they finish something they started. We aren't all runners - definitely not - but we can all achieve something when we try, and that's what Cross Country teaches us.
We wish the students going up to Kaipatiki Park today all the very best.
Thank you to those parents who have started to fill in the Google Form - https://forms.gle/B5xM6ZkZ2XK37Gbw6 - around creating a Whanau Database. In case it was on the to do list and slipped your mind - the link is still open.
A massive thank you to all our parents that managed to visit Bunnings last week and see our Kapa Haka students showcase- it was a truly memorable experience.
Today at our assemblies we celebrated Tongan Language Week. We were fortunate enough to have one of our lovely students, Iunisi, show us what she looks like in her traditional Tongan dress

Mini ball update
Semester 1 of basketball has finished and all our teams did so well. We played our best in every game and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.
A big thank you to our coaches and managers, most who are carrying on in these roles this term. Without you, our children wouldn't be able to play.
A special mention goes to The M Jordans who came runners up in their league and to The S Curry's who came first in their league.
At the moment, all year 2-4 teams practice is every Tuesday at 8.15am at school court. They are run by Mike, Travis Duncan dad.
S Curry team does not have a coach, so I stood as coach/manager. So please feel free to send my contact details to our new players.
I am pleased to inform you that the boys won the champion game last night against Milford school and won Gold medal. Please see attached photos.
We were so thrilled and exceptionally proud of the boys. I believe this is the first gold for MPS for miniball under Harbour basketball.
