SCES COVID-19 Test Kit Plan for Distribution
In order to provide families with COVID-19 test kits as quickly as possible, we have developed a plan to distribute them tomorrow. Please see below for procedures. Linked here is the parent letter.
DISTRIBUTION
We will follow a roster and attendance system to ensure all students receive a test kit. Distribution will take place in 3 ways:
Student backpack on Monday, Jan 10 (for students present in school)
Teachers will provide each student with a COVID-19 test kit to be placed in their backpacks at the end of the day
COVID-19 test kits will be provided to students who are dismissed early
Parent pickup on Tuesday, Jan 11 for students who are absent on Monday and are not in school on Tuesday. Location: Car circle from 9:30a-10:30a
Students enrolled in MCPS Virtual Learning (not quarantine zoom room) should contact the school directly to arrange to pick up COVID-19 test kits. Please call the main office at 240-740-2800
ONCE COVID-19 TEST KITS ARE RECEIVED
Once COVID-19 test kits are received, parents should promptly complete the following:
Assist your child with administering the first COVID test on the day it was received.
Report all results, negative or positive to MCPS here by Jan 14
If test results are positive, your child must isolate at home for 10 days regardless of vaccination status. Please notify the school so we can identify close contacts, if needed, and make arrangements for the “zoom room”.
*These tests are for students attending Sligo Creek Elementary School only. They should not be used to test household members or others who do not attend Sligo Creek Elementary School.

COVID Message from MCPS
Continue to report positive cases.
If your child tests positive, please report it to MCPS using this form. You may call your child’s school if you are not able to submit the information electronically.
Report results on the system-provided rapid COVID-19 test.
Please report all results, both positive and negative, by this Friday, January 14, when using the rapid test kits distributed in schools.
Get a COVID-19 test prior to returning to school if possible.
Check with your healthcare provider, local clinic, pharmacy or the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to identify where and how to have your children tested.
Keep children home if they have any symptoms of illness and get them tested for COVID-19.
It’s important that students don't spread their illness to others. Please keep them home when they are sick and have them tested for COVID-19 as an extra precaution.

COVID-19 Safety Practices
- If your child does not feel well or is experiencing any possible symptoms of COVID-19, they should stay home.
- Students who are sent home from school with a single COVID symptom must have a negative PCR test to return.
- If a student tests positive for COVID-19, it is critical that the school is notified as soon as possible.
- Students who test positive will quarantine for 10 days and will have access to live instruction via "zoom room".
- The "zoom room" is only available for students who test positive for COVID-19. A schedule and zoom link will be provided upon quarantining.
