Welcome New Staff Members!
Please welcome two new staff members to our Meadow Hall Team.
Ms. Boucher, frequent daily sub, has started as a long-term sub for Ms. Isern's grade one class. Ms. Boucher will be a teacher full time in MCPS next year and we are so pleased to have her with us this semester!
Mr. Guwani has joined us as a long-term substitute in our Autism team. He will be providing support to Ms. Cabral's class and taking on teaching duties. He has experience working with Special education and we're lucky to have him join us!
Candid Photos - Yearbook
On Monday, February 26th there will be a photographer from Freed photography here taking candid photos for the yearbook. So don't be surprised if someone is taking pictures of students - it's OK:)
Equity Matters Dialogue: Identifying and Interrupting Hate Bias (optional)
As identified in MCPS’ Antiracist Action Plan in the area of school culture, MCPS will intentionally and purposefully provide on-going training for all MCPS staff on how to respond and redress hate bias incidents in schools and offices. In the session we will:
• learn what bias is
• examine our own biases and the areas where we may need to build our knowledge
• reflect on what hate bias looks like and ouds like in our schools and offices
• discuss how hate bias impacts students, staff and families
• practice how to address hate bias.
If interested - register through Professional Development Online (PDO), course #92391
Revisions to MCBOE Policies and MCPS Regulations
During September to January 2024, the Board of Education amended two policies, and the superintendent of schools approved for revision twelve MCPS regulations. See the attached memo:
April 22 - Asynchronous Learning
The Plan for Students
Monday, April 22nd will now be an asynchronous learning day for students (rather than making up an instructional day at the end of the school year). Teams will prepare grade-level work to send home with students on April 17th. Students have two weeks to complete the work. When they turn it in, they will be marked present for the make-up day, so teachers will need to record completion. Activities should be a review and can include, but are not limited to, reading, math, and choice boards. Consider using Copy Plus to make copies (Google Form). Admin is preparing a "cover sheet" for the April 22nd work that has an explanation. We will make copies on color paper that teachers will staple to the packet going home. As the date approaches the cover sheet and directions should be included in your class dojo messages. Work should only be a review and does not need to cover every subject.
**We are not using technology for our Asynchronous student work
**If there is another snow day, April 10th will also be an asynchronous instructional day
The Plan for Staff
Teachers will be able to telework on Monday, April 22. This professional learning day will now be two hours of asynchronous learning that must be completed between Wednesday, April 10 and Friday, May 10. The Department of Districtwide Professional Learning will provide asynchronous learning for staff and continue to focus on the Equitable Teaching and Learning Framework with attention to antiracist and culturally responsive practice. (So, in other words, there will be a 2-hour online PD for staff to complete in lieu of the full day PD) Administrators will check for completion on April 30th and the final check for completion will be May 11th.
American Fidelity
Our American Fidelity representative will be in the Staff lounge on March 5-6 to meet with MCEA staff as needed. Stop by and learn about the services they provide!
