Request for Dissertation Study
My name is Melissa Iamonico and I am a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. I am interested in examining the role of the school librarian as both a change agent and a gatekeeper as they purchase, promote, and use diverse literature. The study will explore the ways in which school librarians utilize ALA’s Core Values and Code of Ethics when performing collection development tasks.
I am looking for upper elementary/middle school librarians who work with students in grades 5-8 to participate in my study. Participants do not have to be certified library media specialists, but they do need to be responsible for collection development in their libraries.
Participants will be asked to participate in:
· One individual interview
· One focus group
· Provide circulation and collection analysis data (support provided)
It is anticipated the total time commitment for participants will be around 2- 2.5 hours. Participants can stop participating at any time during the process.
If you are interested in participating in the study, please fill out this Google Form.
I can be reached at iamonicom@student.mville.edu with any questions.
With gratitude,
Melissa Iamonico
