Mill Valley Weekly
January 26, 2023
Hello Mill Valley Families,
We are very excited to have an Artist in Residence at Mill Valley! Marina Lee is our artist and has guided Artist-in-Education programs since 1992. She has worked with over 100 K-12 schools.
Multiple pieces are being created for Mill Valley; several interior wall reliefs featuring "finned water creatures," as well as an exterior "imaginative animal" sculpture. Each student will contribute to the sculpture and wall reliefs during their art classes, whether it be through helping to plan, build, paint, or by adding other decorative elements.
On Monday, many classes spent time with Marina and Mrs. Owens brainstorming ideas for the works of art. Marina will be returning in February and March to continue working on the building and painting phases of the program. The sculpture will be installed outside in the spring, as weather permits.
Sincerely,
Robin Schrot, Building Principal
Allyce Harris, Associate Principal

Attention 4th Grade Girls...
Girls on the Run will be offered at Mill Valley for girls in 4th grade this year. Girls on the Run inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained volunteer coaches will lead the small team through activities, discussions and fun running games that give the girls the opportunity to build confidence and healthy habits. Girls learn how to make great friendships, how to celebrate all that makes them unique, and so much more. Girls on the Run is so much fun!
Registration opens online on February 13th
For more information on Girls on the Run see the site here. For Mill Valley specific information check here or contact Karen Goelz (karen.goelz@muskegonorway.org).
