School Activities
Earth Fest Activities
Students had an amazing time at the Earth Fest activities at BFUHS! Fourth graders from Central Elementary School also joined the activities of the day. Students participated in planting raised beds, participating in nature photography and art projects, orienteering, and a presentation by guest speaker Alden Dumas from the Connecticut River Conservancy organization who demonstrated an Enviroscape, a 3D model of a watershed and the impacts of water pollution and runoff.
Student Art Show
Student Mary Wallace acted as docent and guided us through the student art show, explaining inspiration and techniques for the amazing student work! More videos will be posted on our WNESU Youtube channel. It's like spending a morning in a museum! Kudos to the students for their work and thank you to the Bellows Falls Woman's Club for participating in the awarding ceremony.
Student Profiles
Biology Presentations
Students in Ms. Gottschalk's Biology class took some time to explain their 'parts of a cell membrane' project. This was a great lesson in conveying the information they had learned! Featured students are William Fletcher, Alex Clair, and Jayden Crawford.

Track and Field Program
From Coach Kim Lunna: Results from the Wednesday April 26th meet:
While it was a bit chilly, the sun did make an appearance at today’s meet. The girls won the meet while the boys placed fourth. We are still playing around with events for a number of athletes, trying to figure out where they are strongest, but things are looking really good for both BF track squads.
We saw some big PRs from our throwers today.
The girls went 1, 2, 3 in the discus.
Laura Kamel set personal bests in both the javelin and the discus (96’3” and 107’1.75”), winning both events (she is also currently ranked #1 in both events in division 3). She also placed second in the high jump.
Nola Sciacca placed second with a season PR in the discus and a 84’5.5” throw. She also placed third in the 200, 4th in the javelin, and was the anchor leg on the second place 4x400 relay team.
Tela Harty threw a personal best and won the shot with a throw of 27’1.5”. She also won the 100M hurdles, was a leg of the winning 4x100 team, and placed third in the discus.
The girls 4x100 relay team, ran by Hadley Gleim, Tela Harty, Aubrey Maxfield, and Ava LaRoss ran a season best 55.64 to win the event.
Hadley Gleim won the long jump with a jump of 13’5.75”, placed second in both the triple jump and 100M dash, and ran the first leg of the 4x100 team.
On the boys side:
Gavin Joy won the 800 with a personal best time of 2:22.52. He placed fourth in the shot with a season PR of 35’5.25”. Gavin also ran on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
