CURRICULUM CORNER-MARCH 2023
Students are taking part in dynamic learning experiences, as usual, here at South.
Our physical education department is ROCKING it!
Mr. Correll, Ms. Coppola, Mr. Arminio, and Mr. Laycock have enthusiastic students participating in volleyball during this past physical education unit. Students are learning how to set, bump, and serve the ball. We have very talented students who have given demonstrations on the technique. The supervisor has also had a lot of fun making sure she doesn’t accidentally get hit by rogue volleyballs.
Ms. Williams and other Health educators present many important topics including the most recent: Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Students have the opportunity to relate their everyday experiences. They explored how to have different levels of needs met from physiological, safety, love and belonging, self-esteem and self-actualization. The connections between this hierarchy and student’s lives proved engaging and important throughout the conversations.
Teachers continue to take part in monthly professional development discussing timely and important topics each time. This time together has been productive and valuable.
We can’t believe we are already halfway through the school year!
We are so grateful to be a part of each students’ journey and to continue to share our amazing experiences at South!
