MAsT International, Summer, 2021, 11th Edition
From Our CEO, Master Michael: Going Forward: Virtual v. In Person Meetings
The Board of Directors for MAsT: International want to extend our sincere gratitude to you all for keeping the faith and fires lit, in whatever way you deemed appropriate for your community.
The Board heard loud and clear at the 2021 Annual General Meeting that there is an interest in continuing to use virtual meeting technology once we move past the pandemic crisis.
For the rest of 2021, we will continue to support doing all-virtual, a mix of virtual or in-person, or hybrid (virtual and in-person at same time) meetings.
In 2022, we hope that we will be past the crisis mode and able to move towards returning to our in-person focus. BUT - we recognize that we’ve learned a lot about the benefits of using virtual meeting technology -- including reaching those who might not be able to come to in-person for a variety of reasons.
In 2022, we will allow chapters to hold up to 50% of their meetings as virtual-only. The balance of the meetings would be in-person or a hybrid (in-person + virtual at same time), subject to your local government’s guidance, if applicable.
MAsT remains committed to supporting chapters so they can support their local communities. We believe this is best achieved when there is some form of personal, face-to-face interaction.
We recognize that situations locally may prevent in-person - local governments may have to react to local situations regarding the pandemic and this may mean that virtual-only meetings are the only option. In those cases, we ask chapters to reach out to their Regional Representatives so that this can be communicated.
We encourage feedback! Let us know what you think, and how we can help!

SELF Directors Discussion Series
SELF has started a multi-year project SELF Directors Discussion Series. Mayhem presented by SELF is the first space where these meaningful conversations with MAsT Directors from all over the country are taking place. This series is a first of its kind and we look forward to generating connective exploration, deepened understanding of the Master/slave lives, and the intricate designs and thoughtfulness of M/s relationships.
Mayhem, presented by SELF Fall Edition, will hold 2 of the SELF Directors Discussions.
November 6th from 2:15 - 3:30 pm EDT
November 7th from 12 - 1:15 pm EDT
Member Spotlight: Master Michael and Slave Angie!
• How many years have you been in power exchange relationships?
Over 17 years, but we both had previous experience, dating back to the mid90s.
• How long have you been a MAsT member? What are your role(s) in MAsT?
We joined MAsT: Windy City back in 2009. That chapter is now closed. We were also members of MAsT: Greater Chicago and MAsT: Buffalo Grove while they were open during the 2010s. We are now co-directors of MAsT: Gurnee, which is a suburb far north of Chicago. Master Michael is the CEO and Chair of MAsT: International.
• What benefits have you found being a member of MAsT?
Slave Angie: for me, I like having a network of likeminded folks who share the same type of relationships that I have.
Master Michael: When slave Angie and I were starting out, we kept looking around and asking "where are people like us?" When we found MAsT, it was like opening a door to a whole new world, where we could talk about ourselves as we really are, without having to caveat everything, explain everything, or couch things in phrases that wouldn't scare the folks who didn't like/understand Master and slave.
• What are some of the highlights in your power exchange journey?
Slave Angie: When we incorporated our power exchange into our sex life. When we would have struggles or challenges and we found ourselves using our dynamic and protocols to help us overcome them. When we ran for our state and regional titles and had the support and coming together of our local community. When we were able to travel and meet so many people, going over to Great Britain and meet their culture of M/s.
Master Michael: I think slave Angie said most of the things I would say, but also in the longevity of our relationship. Each day is a gift, we are not promised tomorrow and being able to maintain this level of intimacy and shared experience is wonderful!
• What’s a low moment in your power exchange journey and how did you recover or what did you learn from it?
When we first started out, we only had our fantasies and our hopes to go on. We weren't prepared for when the new relationship energy fades and we have to really start the work of figuring this thing out. We call it the ebbs and flows - all relationships have them. High points and low points. We weren't really prepared for that at first, and it took us a few times to really come up with a strategy of how to get through those low times and maintain our relationship.
• What’s an interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?
Slave Angie: Even though I drive a tiny little Fiat, I love big, fast, loud, sexy cars! My dream car is a '68 GTO Judge!
Master Michael: I have served into two of Uncle Sam's finest military boot camps - US Army (Fort Jackson, summer of 1985) and US Air Force (Lackland Air Force Base, winter of 1987).
• Do you have any advice for people new to power exchange relationships or new chapter directors?
Slave Angie: Have fun, be yourself, share yourself openly with other MAsT members and
c-o-m-m-u-n-i-c-a-t-e!!!!
Master Michael: For new (and experienced!) chapter directors - the regional reps and Board of Directors are here to help you be successful! We want your chapter to be what you envision is best for your local area. How can we help?
• What’s your favorite quote and why?
Slave Angie: I'm not good with quotes, but someone that I find inspiring is slave Caroline from Australia. After all this time, she still learns and teaches. That speaks to me!
Master Michael: I can tell you the one that I find I use most often, from my maternal gramma Viola - "If you don't listen, you feel!"
