Hatherly Happenings

All students are invited to walk to school with staff next Friday morning, October 8th. Students and staff volunteers will meet at three different locations at 8:15 a.m. One group will set up for the Purple Dinosaur Part. The second group will leave from Three Ring Road. The final group will gather at Woodland Road. Together each group will head to school. The Scituate Police Officer Nick Sharry will be helping us along the way.

This week's story was about a mother and her two children who are all connected by an invisible string that is made of love. This book is a very relatable and heartwarming story where the mother explains questions her children have about the unbreakable connection of love.

On Tuesday, Grades 3-5 got to participate in a virtual visit by author Sara Pennypacker. Ms. Pennypacker read aloud an excerpt from her book, Pax, which is about an orphan fox and his touching relationship with the young boy who rescued him. Students were able to ask questions about the book, the writing process, and Pennypacker's own journey to become a writer. Families can purchase a copy of Pax from Buttonwood Books if their students would love to read this wonderful novel!

On Wednesday, students in Grade 3 participated in a Math Lesson by Greg Tang. He helped them to shape their understanding of multiplication by showing them different ways to represent equal groups. It was a great extension of what we have been doing in class with arrays!

Hatherly PTO has partnered once again with Boosterthon and are hosting a Boosterthon Fun Run in November with all proceeds benefiting Hatherly PTO.

We are hoping to produce a shirt for every Hatherly student and staff member to wear not only at the Fun Run but throughout the year (field trips and other school events).

In order to make this happen, we need the support of businesses in our community to sponsor our shirt production. We also encourage families to become sponsors as well! We would greatly appreciate your consideration in support of our school. At any level, your business will be promoted on over 300 shirts all around town!

The deadline for T-shirt sponsors to sign ups is Wednesday October 6th, 2021.

The October lunch menu is below! Please note our Food Services Director, David Stevens, is trying his hardest ordering items on the lunch menu but is having difficulty with out of stock items, substitutions, and low staffing for delivery. Our cafeteria staff is doing an unbelievable job being flexible with the lunch items they receive.
