Maynard High School News and Notes
2020-2021 First Edition
Excited To Start!
On behalf of the entire faculty and staff at Maynard High School we would again like to welcome you to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We have missed seeing and interacting with our students and their families and can’t wait for the year to begin this coming Wednesday September 16th with students checking in to there first class session at 7:45am.
Synchronous Learning Reminder!
As you likely know, this school year will be starting with fully remote learning for students due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. Unlike the last three months of our last school year, from March 13th to the end of the school year on June 15th, during a typical school week this year our students will be checking into all their classes actively from 7:45am to 2:05pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays students will be working asynchronously on assignments given by their teachers in advance.
Links to all classes will be emailed to students this coming Monday afternoon September 14th using their student email accounts.
Attendance/Grades/Handbook
This year attendance will be taken for every class period and on every school day, the curriculum will be advancing, homework will be given and numerical grades will be issued at the end of every marking quarter. The school’s attendance policy, found in the student/parent handbook will be in effect.
The simplest way to think of this school year is that everything will count from day one!
The next link goes to the updated handbooks along with the remote learning addendum for policies around proper remote learning behavior and expectations.
Orientation Update!
This week we have had two orientation sessions each day for our Freshman, Sophomores and Seniors with activities starting at Alumni Field where each student also received their class schedule for the year. From there, students went on to have their ID Photos taken and received the class materials they will need to start the school year. In the evenings we have held Google Meets designed for the parents and guardians of our students.
The parent and guardian meeting for Sophomores will be this evening, Friday September 11th, from 6:30-7:30pm. A link went out earlier today to our sophomores and their families.
Our Juniors will have their orientation sessions this Monday September 14th with a Google Meet for parents and guardians to follow from 6:30 to 7:30pm. That link will go out Monday morning.
To date turnout at all of our events to date has been exceptional!
In the event your student could not make an orientation session, they can still stop by this Monday September 14th from 8:00 to 1:30 to have their photo taken and receive their materials for the school year.
