PRINCIPAL'S NOTE
As we say farewell to April, I'd like to remind everyone to be diligent about reading newsletters from your child's teacher, and to be on the lookout for important dates. May is full of exciting events and we wouldn't want you to miss a thing! Field trips, concerts, and other exciting activities take place in the spring. Mrs. Doran does an excellent job of trying to post these on the school sign as an additional reminder.
We are certainly looking forward to our visit tomorrow, by author Jennifer Jacobson. Thank you, Mrs. Caron, for all the work you've done in preparation for this event! I know the students will truly enjoy the day.
Today we held our second practice lockdown drill. This is an important part of our safety plan at PES. As I explained to students, it's a good way to be prepared and is like wearing your seat belt or a bike helmet. We don't anticipate anything happening, but it's always best to be safe. There will be one more drill this year. Thank you to Chief Skroski for helping us out!
Finally, a reminder that beginning next WEDNESDAY, MAY 3RD and continuing throughout the month of May, there will be NO late starts. Students will attend school from 8:20-3:00, and buses will run as they do on the other days of the week.
NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY
During Library class in April in honor of Poetry month, the PES 5th grade students researched, selected, read, and recorded poems for everyone to enjoy~please click on the "Poetry Playlist" to see them all. Thank you. Poetry Playlist 22-23
EAT THE RAINBOW WEEK
We had fun participating in Eat the Rainbow Week! All grades tried some new fruit or vegetables, and showed their spirit by wearing the day's colors. Second grade won an extra recess, as the class with the most participation, with 3rd grade coming in 2nd and 1st grade coming in 3rd. Great job everyone, and thank you to our wonderful PTA members: Chelsea Antoinette, Shana Ferrara, Annie Sarbanis, and Callie Wells for all your help prepping the fruit and vegetables!
