News & Updates
Hello CELC & MVLA Families,
We had an amazing week filled with laughter, studying our color of the week (orange), beginning our iReady assessments, learning about the Constitution, and just being "flamazing"! We are "beary" excited about this week. Dr. Newman gave us approval to invite parents to our Teddy Bear Picnics. Teachers sent out a communication on Friday outlining the schedules and directions. If you have any questions, or did not received the email, please contact your student's teacher.
It was great to get out on Saturday night and help celebrate AEF's contributions to our schools. The 80's theme was a huge hit! I especially enjoyed the music! Thank you to AEF for another amazing gala. Your hard work and dedication to our students is greatly appreciated. We can't wait to get the Wheel of Experts rolling in October.
Please make sure that you are dropping your student off in the morning and leaving right away. We know it is difficult sometimes to not stop and chat with other families, but please take your conversations to the front of the school. If your student picks up breakfast, they should take it to the class and eat at the table outside the classroom. The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we navigate the 2021-22 school year.
Important Updates and Information:
- AIPC ballots will be going out on Monday and Tuesday. If you are an American Indian parent and you do not receive one, please contact he school office and we will make sure to send you one.

- Our first PTA meeting was a success. Thank you so much to our new board members: Melissa Zauss, Nicole Almond, Stephanie Green, and Emily Minear. We are also excited to have Candace Warden as our teacher representative.
- Our PTA membership drive will begin on Friday, September 24th. More details coming soon. We are placing an order this week to restock our CELC t-shirt inventory.
- Please take a couple of minutes to fill out a media release form. We would love to start posting pictures of what is happening in the classrooms. :) Click the link here: MVLA Release Form OR CELC Release Form. We still have many families that haven't been able to do this yet. It is super important! We would like to start sharing more pictures of what our students are doing in the classrooms.
- Thank you for the continued donations of water. With the heat, we go through them fast. We can always use more donations of water bottles: 8oz or 16oz. If you are willing and able to help out, please drop the water off at the school office.

- Chromebook distribution for incoming Cubs or students that are new to our district occurs daily in the school office. The best time to come is after 9:05 am or 15-20 minutes before pick up. Attention MVLA Parents
Thank you for your support with the transition to a different pick up procedure. Everything seemed to work out well. It was great to see some of you at drop off. Remember, you can drop off at CELC or SHES.
We are in search for a School Site Council. Please let the teachers know if you are interested. We will meet three times and will be as flexible as possible with the meeting schedule.

Self Care September
Join our AUSD family in utilizing resources at www.actionforhappiness.org. They have monthly themes and ideas to help keep us Happier-Kinder-Together!
Self-care isn't selfish, it's essential. No-one's perfect. But so often we compare our insides to other people's outsides. This month is Action for Happiness is encouraging everyone to be kinder to themselves (as well as others), especially when things go wrong. Self-care increases our resilience and helps us get more out of life. It also helps us accept others as they are too.
AUSD is Hiring
If you, or any of your friends/family, love kids and are looking for part time work, please share our postings. We have a couple of positions on our site as well as on other campuses.
