The Riebli Record
John B. Riebli Elementary- September 15, 2023
A message from Mrs. Todd
Today we have our first lockdown drill. I sent a detailed email earlier today about this. Please have a discussion with your students about how they felt during the lockdown drill.
We are also about to begin our partnership with Read On, Sonoma with grades 2-6. In grades 2-6, students earn points for reading and taking AR quizzes. PLEASE CHECK IN WITH YOUR STUDENT. We want every student to take a quiz by September 30. I know that the longer chapter books take time to read, so please continue to encourage reading for 20-30 minutes a day.
Parking, this is a reminder that parents need to park on the house side of Ursuline Road.
Next week we have Family Fitness Night on Wednesday, September 20 at 5:30 pm in the Multi.
I can't wait to see you there.
XO,
Emily
Read on, Sonoma!
Students in grades 2-6 at our school will participate in the "Read On, Sonoma!" challenge. Students are assigned a “goal” each trimester. The goal is set through the results of their STAR diagnostic assessment. Each time a student reads a book or article, they will complete a quiz on comprehension and receive a score. Scores are recorded and tracked through the Accelerated Reader Program (AR).
The AR (Accelerated Reader) Program also tracks how many words students read. At the end of each year, we celebrate students who have read a million words or more.
Help your student out by reading with them nightly and asking about if they have taken quizzes recently.
We will update this graphic weekly to see all the growth our students are showing!

Attendance
REMINDER! CALL YOUR STUDENT'S ABSENCE IN EVERY DAY THEY ARE GONE.
Independent Study: There is a new state law that students can only participate in independent study for 14 school days during the year. Please plan vacations during school vacations. We need all 180 days to help your student achieve their best. Please request independent study at least 7 school days before you leave. Teachers need time to organize and create the work.
