April Specialty Wrap Up - Casey Minner
Entries were up and felt closer to how things were pre-Covid. The feedback received was positive even with the last minute judge changes. Judges have been approached for next year and it was suggested that with the lifting of PCR testing to come into the US that this should help.
Lucy made a motion to have the Supported Saturday and Friday and Sunday specialties like we had this year. The motion was seconded by Karen Kman. Everyone was in favor.
Laura noted that more assistance for the event is needed next year. Particularly in hospitality and during the event. We will reach out after the October Specialty has finished.
NATIONAL SPECIALTY - October
Show super is Gordon Show Services with Susan Gordon who did our 2019 herding trials. She will be doing our catalog and will be on site at the Founders Inn Monday thru Saturday.
There are several sold out nights with about 800-900 rooms at last count. There will be no plastic in the rings but there will be plastic in the grooming area. Mats, jumps and ring equipment will be borrowed from the RDOC. Our Ring Steward lives nearby and will be driving back and forth.
Karen Kman is working with the hotel on the hospitality events. There will be a Welcome Party Tuesday evening. No auction dinner this year but we are working on a social dinner for Wednesday or Friday night with wine and hors d'oeuvres. The Veteran Showcase event will be held Thursday with light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.
Obedience/Rally - Lynne Corn
David and Joan Brobst have been approved as Obedience and Rally judges. Joan has emailed with an issue and suggested that Dave be pre-approved to be backup judge for Rally which they have approved. The Brobst will be bringning the rally sign holders and won't need accomodations as they live nearby. We have a few who are willing to steward, Merilynn Bergstresser and potentially Jane Cooper. Lynne noted that she could use an additional steward for these events. Bob Lamb has said he is willing to help and is picking up judges and bringing them to the hotel.
Logowear - Karen Kman
Karen has been working with the vendor to make sure that the lettering shows up on both dark and light colored items. The logowear should be available shortly after the Agility logowear has completed on July 15th. Everything will be provided to Karen Norteman for the NC BCC website.
Trophy Sponsorship Open
Sponsorship for Trophies is open and there are still trophies available. If you would like to sponsor one please go to this website.
Upcoming Events
There is nothing on the calendar for this summer but Lucy Campbell suggested we do the dock diving/swimming event like last year and has reached out to Robin and Sheila to see if they can get a price and potential dates.
Jan Vallone said Roger Orrock had sent out an email about the Virginia Scottish Games event that is held over the Labor Day weekend at The Plains, VA. The event requires the Club to commit to both days. While this may not work this year with the National Specialty it is something to consider for 2023.
General Membership Meeting
We have a target date of October 1st for the next General Membership Meeting. This meeting may potentially be electronic via Google Meet or other electronic means.
Treasurers Report - Lucy Campbell
Current balance with Truist at May 31, 2022 is $20,867.61 and $513.33 in PayPal which will be transferred.
Motion to Adjourn was made by Karen Kman and Seconded by Lucy Campbell.
