PTO Meeting on 1/12/22 will be Zoom Only
This Wednesday’s Monthly PTO Meeting will meet on Zoom; we will not have an in-person option this month. Before the meeting, a separate email will be sent containing the Zoom link, the agenda, and the previous meeting’s minutes.
MLK Day Of Service
The PTO would like to encourage all families to participate in Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 17th. We have compiled a list of activities and service projects that your family can do together. Many ideas can be done from the comfort of your own home! We’ll start a thread on Facebook on the 17th and we’d love to see how your family gets involved by sharing pictures with us there. Thank you in advance for your service!
PTO Volunteers: Order Your Winter “PTO Crew” Shirts & Sweatshirts
By request, we have warmer, “PTO Crew” gear! Long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts are available to order until noon on Friday, January 21st. Once again, Les at Sports 11 has offered to make these at cost for our volunteers. Click here to order: Sports 11 Online OGS Shop. When the shirts are ready, Sports 11 will call you to pick up your shirt in store. (Note: The long sleeve t-shirts are unisex Gilden shirts and run true to size. The writing is OGS royal blue–in case your monitor displays it differently.)
Lunch Room Help in 2022
By volunteering for a lunch shift, you are helping the PTO raise money to run our programs and activities, as Marla’s Lunch Service is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser! Please sign up to help in the Elementary or Jr. High lunch rooms. Also, as CoViD continues to up-end families’ schedules, we need more people on our last minute volunteer list. If you are often available between the hours of 10:45 am -1:00 pm and can help on short notice, please join our Last Minute Volunteer List by emailing PTO Registrar Aayshah Mirza at Aayshahm2@gmail.com. Thank you volunteers!

Band News
Beginning Band
Welcome back! Parents, let’s start the new year off right, by helping your child get back into the habit of a little daily practice. Please use E.E Interactive online for practice and be sure to send students to school with playing masks, books and instruments (and covers) on full band and lesson days.
Jazz Band
Attention Parents, The LHS Jazz Festival is next Wednesday the 19th of January. We will board a bus at 8:45 a.m. and spend the morning at the high school with a professional jazz musician, have a little lunch, then perform for each other. We will be back to school by 2:00 p.m. I have LHS music shirt to wear for all students on the day of. We do not have a concert that evening.
We are working to set a date towards the end of the month to make up our “Jazz in the Gym” Concert that was canceled in December due to the power outage.
Due to the holiday next Monday, we will plan to add a morning rehearsal Wednesday before the Jazz Festival. After Jazz Fest, we have lots of fun new music for the next concert cycle.
Symphonic & Concert Band
We will have a regular rehearsal and lesson week except for those affected by Friday afternoon's early dismissal. Next week, Symphonic Band will meet Tuesday and Thursday for morning rehearsal. We are in the planning stages of a winter concert and may opt for a virtual performance. We will keep you posted.

Social Emotional Learning
Soaring Eagles
Welcome back! We have missed you but hope that winter break provided time for family, laughter, and relaxation.
As we begin the new year, we will continue to build on our school community and highlight our amazing students. Specifically, we will be recognizing students that demonstrate a particular trait throughout the month. For example, during the month of January, we will have our students focus on commitment. The various types of commitment will be taught during SEL lessons and integrated into our daily curriculum. At the end of each month, we will recognize individual students who demonstrate what it means to be a Soaring Eagle!
Please feel free to utilize the Oak Grove SEL website to keep track of the monthly traits or find information on all things SEL at Oak Grove.
