Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
One of the many amazing things at Canby High School is the philanthropy of the students. Our students often work together to support worthwhile causes and serve our greater community. Just this last week, students raised money for Make a Wish by buying pieces of tape to affix Associate Principal Megan Jackson to the wall in the main hallway, and our baseball and softball teams served lunch at the Canby Adult Center. It is heartwarming to be a part of such a caring school culture.
Also this past week, our MEChA students attended the Cesar Chavez Conference at Western Oregon University, our AVID students toured Willamette University, and our talented Artists and Singers entertained us through our Art Show and Talent Shows. I am grateful to our students for sharing their skills with us and to our dedicated staff for helping them grow and develop as artists.
Speaking of amazing talent, check out our fabulous Alumni Choir Concerts tonight and tomorrow night. It is truly special how this event showcases our choir students and the awesome tradition of alumni singers sharing their time and talents with us as well. We are truly blessed to have such a supportive community.
Looking forward to the start of May, Choir and Band have State Performances and Prom is just around the corner. Spring sporting events are still in full swing. The 6-week grading period ends next week (with no school Friday, May 5) and conferences are the following week. It is a good time for students to check in with their teachers and make sure they are keeping up with their schoolwork.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

New Canby Cougar logo has been unleashed!
As the shiny new science and general education wing nears completion for a fall 2023 opening, school leaders have decided to elevate the rest of the campus to match with a logo refresh. The new Cougar logo, produced by the Graphic Design department, was rolled out during a logo-reveal event on Thursday, April 20 in the CHS Omni Room.
The modernized Cougar logo was pitched as part of an idea to “brand” the new wing. Once administrators agreed on the look, the design underwent its greatest test: students. Several groups of students, including leadership, graphic design and yearbook staff, all approved the design.

Attendance at CHS
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-Excused Absence: For any anticipated absence that will be more than three days, students are expected to pick up a Pre-Excused Absence Form from Jessie Munoz at the Attendance Office.
To report an absence, call Jessie Munoz at our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Students have 48 hours to have unexcused absences excused. Students may lose the opportunity to make up work for credit due to unexcused absences. Please report an absence as soon as possible.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
