The IMS Connection
Volume 19, Issue 8: MAY 2022
Greetings Islip Families,
I hope this note finds you healthy, well, and recharged after the children’s spring recess. While some of our community ventured off the island, many have stayed and reconnected with all the island has to offer. In either case, it really is wonderful to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.
It is delightful to see so many parents and students in attendance at our school contests and performances. This is a sign of a healthy middle school environment.
Joining our newsletter distribution for the first time are our incoming 6th Grade Parents! On Wednesday, May 11th, at 7:00 pm, all 5th grade students and parents are invited to attend our 5th to 6th grade orientation in person in our middle school auditorium.
Our middle school musicians are excited about the upcoming concerts. The 7th and 8th graders will perform May 23rd and the 6th graders will perform on May 25th, so save the dates.
I want to continue to emphasize, should you have any questions or challenges, please contact me, Mr. Cohen, your child’s teacher, guidance counselor, social worker, or psychologist. All of our contact information is available on the Middle School Google Site. It can be accessed via the middle school website.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.
Wishing you good health and happiness,
Warm regards,
Dr. Timothy P. Martin
Principal
Renaissance Rave
Spring into Renaissance at IMS!!
We had a very successful Raffle to celebrate our 2nd Quarter Achievements! The planning, prize purchases, and Renaissance Fun is ready for our Final Raffle of the year! We will be recognizing 3rd Quarter Achievements this month! Be on the lookout for dates to get your Card Validated and attend the Raffle! Replacement cards can be purchased in the AP Office for $5.
We can't wait to celebrate ALL our IMS Achievers!
Keep up the great work, commitment, and dedication!
LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD, DO GOOD!
Here's to hoping the old saying, April showers bring May flowers holds true. As we welcome the month of May we are ready to embrace the warm spring sunshine and all the excitement and anticipation that summer brings.
Although the end of the school year will be here in the blink of an eye, the two remaining months offer plenty of time to take advantage of Islip Middle School’s offerings. It's never too late to join a club; just reach out to the club advisor and get a permission slip signed by a parent. Not interested in a club, that's o.k., show your Buccaneer Pride and come out and support your friends as they compete in one of our spring sports. As the weather warms, I can assure you that it is not heating up as fast as the Drama Club and the Theatre Tech club as they rehearse for what is sure to be a stunning performance of “High School Musical Jr.” The live performances will be June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th so be on the lookout for tickets.
Please check us out on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to view photos, videos, and news about amazing things going on at IMS. Our new Google Site has up-to-date info on everything you need to navigate your time at IMS, but if any questions do arise, I invite you to reach out to me via e-mail at jcohen@islipufsd.org or call me directly at (631) 650-8515.
Regards,
Jason M. Cohen
