Week 13
I hope the message finds everyone well and ready for a fast and furious November! We definitely have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us AND we only have 18 instructional days this month, so let's make each one count!
I want to take a moment to acknowledge our SPECTACULAR Special Education Team and all the students who participated in the Special Olympics bowling championship last week! We had several students receive medals and we could not be more #NavProud of their accomplishments! #UnLockingPotential
Also, sending HUGE THANKS to EVERYONE who made the 3rd Annual Fall Festival a SMASHING SUCCESS! Each year the festival only gets better and that is a testament to the outstanding staff, students, and community we have at Navarro. THANKS to the Special Events committee, Navarro ACE Ballet Folklorico, NEHS, Pawcast, STUCO, Choir, PTO, grade level teams, and EVERYONE who sacrificed time, effort, and energy to make it a memorable event. And last but certainly not least, TREMENDOUS THANKS to Mrs. Aguilar for all her passion, planning, leadership, and commitment to making our Fall Festival...THE Fall Festival. #LockedOnExceLLEnce #LockHEARTfor People
Don't forget this Saturday is LISD EdCamp and we are the REIGNING CHAMPIONS (even if the district says we tied with BBE last year) Right now we're in 3rd place with staff registered behind ABS and PCE but I'm not worried, Navarro always comes through clutch :)
Let's make it a great week, Navarro! #CultivatingExceLLenceforALL
Quote of the week

NAVARRO INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS
Campus Focus: FSGPT
90% of Navarro teachers will use Sentence Stems at the accomplished level by the end of December.
90% of Navarro teachers will use FSGPT at the accomplished level by the end of December.
Sentence Stems and FSGPT together during small group instruction:
SGI instruction is the perfect time to implement the use of Sentence Stems and FSGPT. It allows all students at the table to engage in the discussion of skills and strategies while allowing the teacher to listen in to each conversation to check for understanding.
PLC Pre-work Reminders:
K-2 Remember to implement the math SGI non-negotiables that were established during last week’s PLC. We will look at the data from our Phonics CBAs this week during PLC.
3-5 Remember to continue monitoring your chosen TEKS to be able to discuss progress at PLC.

LEADER IN ME
WIG and Scoreboard Updates:
We look forward to seeing the data posted and growing on your class scoreboards!
Scope and Sequence:
Module 13, Lesson 1-4
Fun songs to use in class: Song 1 Song 2
Module 13 Parent Communication:
*These can be posted in your newsletters to parents to help families continue the LIM discussions at home.
Kinder: This week, we are taking our priorities one step further and discussed how to use them when we make decisions. Invite your learner to teach you the song about making choices!
First: This week we are learning how to describe our priorities and learned to make positive decisions at home and at school. As a family, discuss these questions: “What does procrastination mean?, and “What are our family priorities?”
Second: This week, the class is creating and reflecting on a Weekly Plan that will assist us in accomplishing our Big Rocks. Weekly planning is a great way to keep us on track and to stay focused on our big rocks! Work together to create a plan for the week! Post the plan in a visible location and check on your progress throughout the week!
Third: This week, we are learning how planning helps us achieve our most important goals. We are learning that we should schedule our “Big Rocks” first because they are the most important, while Our “little rocks” can go in after. View this resource and plan your big rocks for the week together! Post in a visible location and check on your progress throughout the week.
Fourth: We are learning about the importance of planning our week. We are considering our most important roles, activities, and responsibilities (Big Rocks) and added them to a weekly calendar. Work together to brainstorm a list of strategies to keep your family on track with your most important activities this week.
Fifth: This week we are learning how to describe the ways we live according to our personal mission statement in the past and ways we could live by our personal mission statement in the future. Using this resource, work together to create your family mission statement. Consider sharing it with your learner’s teacher!
