Elementary Updates
Updates from Mr. Fillwock
November brought many exciting opportunities for our young huskies to continue Learning Under Construction.
As we move into colder weather please remember to send your students with snow pants, hats, gloves, boots and winter coat to help make recess time more enjoyable. We will be going outside if the temperature is over 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
Please continue to use our pick up process after school using the service drive off McClelland Road. Thank you for your patience and understanding to keep everyone safe especially with winter weather coming.
Wednesdays throughout this year we have been celebrating wonderful work with our Wall of Wonderful Work. Each Wednesday students are chosen by their teacher for their work to be displayed for the week. Photos of those students below! Congrats!

NHS Updates
The National Honor Society has been busy this month with planning and hosting events. On November 9th, we had our annual blood drive through Versiti Blood Center of Michigan who took 20 usable units of blood that will save 60 lives!
The NHS is also planning to partner with the Salvation Army to gather toys for this holiday season, all of which will stay within Gratiot County! If you are interested in donating, there will be a box, to put all unwrapped toys, at the boys basketball game against St. Louis on December 7th, starting at 6pm. This will also be your admission into the game! There will also be a competition between the grades to see who can get the most toys collected. The winner of the Middle School Classes and High School Classes will celebrate with a doughnut and chocolate milk party!

Varsity Cross Country State Finals
The Varsity Boys were regional champions for the third straight year, making it to state finals as a team. They finished only 3 points away from 3rd place. This marks the boys' fourth straight year finishing in the top 4 at state finals - a strong start to a dynasty that will hopefully continue for years to come. Their 4th place finish marked the end of an incredibly tough season, losing a cherished team mate, Trent Carter, at the beginning of the season.
Mason Sumner was the only All-stater, earning this honor all 4 seasons of Varsity Cross Country - which is a feat and something to be proud of!
Congratulations to the cross country teams on an outstanding year!
And as Coach Gulick says, "Bring It and DOMINATE!!!"

Great job on a great season, boys!

BOND UPDATE
As the calendar turns the page to December, we are continuing to move forward with construction and bond work. Bids for work on the Middle School and High School and Athletic areas will be opened on December 1st. These bids will be approved at the December Regular Board Meeting.
Work on updating open classrooms in the High School will begin in January and February of 2022. New flooring, lighting, ceilings, cabinetry, whiteboards, and projectors will round out the upgrades. The goal will be to have approximately 14 classrooms completed by the end of this school year.
The High School gymnasium's occupancy has been approved from the HVAC work that was taking place. This means that we are all set for games and indoor activities for the winter months. We look forward to welcoming parents and community members to home basketball games this winter.
The elementary work continues. Underground plumbing has been completed. Over the next few weeks we will see exterior walls going up and electrical work beginning.
Please check back each month for bond and construction updates. Have a Happy and Blessed Christmas season and Go Huskies!
