PES Notes

Hello!

I hope each of you had a great Fall Break. For some, it was time to travel; for others, it was work as usual. Regardless of whatever you did, I hope it was a great week. I am ready to get back to work, grow as a person, and help students do the same.

This past year, our school dealt with a high chronic absenteeism rate. This is an area that we are looking to improve. One of the things we wrote in our school improvement plan was to add some incentives. We will have a competition between grade levels for the remainder of this month. The grade level with the highest percentage present will get extra recess. On the individual front, all students with perfect attendance for the remainder of October will go into a drawing for a $25 gift card.

During the last week of September, students in grades 2-4 took the CASE Assessment. I expect to receive scores this next week and will begin sharing them with you. I will also share them on our school website. I want you to know what and how we are doing as a school.

I will stop here for now. Please pay attention to the different sections in this newsletter. We do have some great events coming up, and we do not want you to miss them. If we can be of assistance, please call or email.

SMART SCHOOL is in full force. Smart School is a chance for students to get extra help with homework, studying for tests, and keeping up to date with online programs. Smart School is open until 6 each day. If you want more information about it, please contact Dr. Pearcy by emailing her @ amanda.pearcy@decaturschools.org.

This is for students who were absent on our first day.

Please join up on October 17th for our monthly meeting. It will begin at 6:00 in the cafeteria.

This event will be October 25th at 6. More detail to come next week. Make plans to join us.

3rd-grade parents, please take a moment and familiarize yourself with this picture. While many of us were hoping the law would disappear, it is still in play. Over the next few weeks, I will be sending individual reports for each student with projections for TN Ready.
