MST Weekly Update
March 10, 2023

Everyone came back from February vacation well rested and hopefully ready to get back to their schoolwork. This is the point in the year where we are really getting concerned about some students who have fallen way behind in their work, especially seniors who are scheduled to graduate on June 17th.
Please ask your child to see their Google Classroom accounts to determine if they are all caught up. Just because an assignment says Turned In, that does not mean that the assignment has met competency. Any assignments scored less than a 3 must be redone until they are at a grade of 3 or better.
The next report cards will be out in early April. If you are not seeing all 2s or 3s at that point, your child will be in danger of not earning credit. We have makeup every day by subject areas (see the calendar on the MST Website). 9th graders will not be promoted if they do not earn at least 4 credits. Seniors will not graduate if they don't meet the graduation requirements. Student must earn all required credits to take part in the graduation ceremony. There is still plenty of time to get back on track, but some will not get caught up if they don't start working now.
Remote Learning
A reminder that if we have any additional snow days, they will most likely be remote learning days. All students were prepped for this possibility this week and know what is expected of them for each class. As of now, the prediction for Monday night and all-day Tuesday is for a Nor'easter snowstorm. Hopefully the meteorologists are wrong!
Seal Of Biliteracy
Are you bilingual? Can you read, write, speak and understand another language, as well as English? You might be able to receive a SEAL of BILITERACY on your diploma. It can open doors for college credit and job opportunities.

Latin Exam
The National Latin Exam will be proctored the week of March 13. All of our Latin students are taking the test to see how well they do. Students in the past have received awards, certificates and one even received a medal!
SkillsUSA NH
The Cosmetology and Video Production Programs will be competing with SkillsUSA NH on March 14th from 8am to 4pm at Manchester Community College. The event is open to the public and is free of charge for observers.
The SkillsUSA NH Awards Ceremony will be at Lakes Region Technology Center in Wolfeboro on Saturday March 18th from 11am to 1pm!! This event is also open to the public and admission is free. Come support our MST CTE students with their quest for Gold, Silver & Bronze as well as prizes and scholarships.
Gold medalists have the opportunity to compete at Nationals in June in Atlanta, Georgia. Additional information is in the attachment below.
SAT Exams 3/22-3/24
All 11th graders at MST will be taking the SAT Exam, at no cost, on either March 22nd, 23rd or 24th. I can't stress enough about the importance of taking this exam, even if your child is not certain of college plans. In the past, many students did not want to take it during the school day only to find out later on that they needed SAT scores. At that point they have to find a testing center, take the test on a Saturday morning and pay $60 for the exam. This is a great opportunity to do this during the school day for free.
Free SAT practice is available online at Official SAT® Practice | Khan Academy.
