LLL S2E7 bks
with Emily Harris, Siouxland Libraries and Mary Jo Parker, Lake Andes Carnegie Public Library
Emily Harris, Librarian from Siouxland Libraries and Mary Jo Parker, Library Director from Lake Andes Carnegie Public Library join Laura to talk about their experiences serving as a committee member for the Collaborative Summer Library Program. Hear how these ladies have the heart of a volunteer, yet they get back more than they give!
Emily Harris is a Librarian at the Downtown Branch of Siouxland Libraries in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She started as a library volunteer when she was 13 and has worked full-time at Siouxland Libraries since 2011. She enjoys outreach, partnerships, and providing services for youth and English Language Learners. Every year she looks forward to watching all of the movies nominated for the Academy Award’s Best Picture category.
Mary Jo Parker is a graduate of SDSU and began her teaching career in Lake Andes/Andes Central upon graduation. She taught in the main area of Family and Consumer Science, but along the way also taught Life, Earth and Physical Science, and Employability. Upon retirement from teaching in 2011, she worked part-time at the Lake Andes Carnegie Public Library, until the Director retired in 2012 and Mary Jo was appointed Director. She completed Library Institute in 2017. Mary Jo is married and the mother of two grown children and three grandchildren. Reading, of course, is her favorite activity, but she also likes to quilt and garden in her spare time.
