Principal's Message
Dear CMIT North High School Parents and Guardians,
As we transition into the vibrant season of Thanksgiving and the approaching winter festivities, I am delighted to share the successes of our first quarter at CMIT North High School. Your dedication and support have played a pivotal role in creating a thriving environment for our students.
We're thrilled to announce that our clubs, after-school tutoring, and athletic programs are in full swing, providing students with enriching experiences beyond the classroom. Additionally, SAT tutoring sessions are set to commence soon, offering valuable resources to our college-bound scholars.
To stay informed about upcoming events, important announcements, and the latest school happenings, I encourage you to check our website, social media, and newsletter regularly. These platforms are invaluable tools for keeping you connected to the pulse of our school community.

Thanksgiving Break Wishes and Updates
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for each and every one of you. The CMIT HS community is a source of strength and inspiration, and we are thankful for the continued support and dedication from our students, families, and staff.
Thanksgiving Break is just around the corner, and we hope it provides you with an opportunity to relax, reflect, and spend quality time with loved ones. Whether you're traveling, enjoying a delicious meal, or simply taking a well-deserved break, we wish you a joyful and rejuvenating holiday.
Here are a few important updates and reminders for the Thanksgiving Break:
- Dates: Thanksgiving Break will begin on November 22nd. School will resume on November 27th.
- Upcoming Events: Stay tuned for information about upcoming events and activities as we enter the holiday season. We have exciting plans to create memorable experiences for our students.
- Health and Safety: As we navigate these times, please continue to prioritize health and safety. Follow recommended guidelines for gatherings, and if you or your child experience any symptoms, err on the side of caution and reach out to us if additional support is needed.

CMIT Homecoming
The Homecoming Dance will be December 9th. Tickets are on sale NOW. Tickets can be purchased from Ms. Upshaw and Ms. Kelsey during the school day.
Parents who would like to volunteer are more than welcome to join the fun. You MUST be approved by PGCPS with the appropriate background check.
Eco-Action Art Contest
The William S. Schmidt Center is challenging PGCPS students in all grades to create original artwork that showcases actions they can take to slow down climate change.
THEME: My Footprint Matters: Each Choice Impacts Climate Change

Food Directory
As we know, many families within PGCPS struggle with food insecurity and especially during this time of year there is often a need for additional support. I wanted to make sure that you all are aware that since 2020 our team has maintained a Grocery Giveaway document that is continually updated with information about various food distribution locations in the county. Please feel free to share this wonderful resource with your colleagues as we all work together to support those families who are in need. I would also like to give a huge shout out to Erin Sisk, the PGSMHI Community Outreach Worker who keeps this document updated.

Students are learning about the dynamic processes of the Earth (rock cycle) with an emphasis on the "Ring of Fire", volcanism, earthquakes, and deep sea trenches/sea floor spreading. A quiz on the rock cycle and Ring of Fire will follow in the coming week (after the Thanksgiving holiday break).

English Tutoring w/ Ms. Beamon
English tutoring with Ms. Beamon is canceled Tuesday November 21, 2023. Sessions will resume Tuesday November 28, 2023.
MathMagicians Club Updates
Greetings,
I would like to express my gratitude to the students of the Mathmagicians club and the Math Lovers who have shown unwavering commitment by dedicating their time and joining the club's activities. Your willingness to solve challenging math problems, patience in waiting for immediate results, and your willingness to learn from mistakes have been truly inspiring. Your idealism and dedication towards achieving higher scores are truly commendable.
Last month, we had a very busy month with four different national and international level math competitions. The students participated in these competitions and gave it their all. I want to congratulate them for their hard work and determination.
Students took the competitions below:
- Math League Contest on October 17
- UMD High School Math Competition on October 18
- Caribou Contest on October 19
- AMC Math Competition on November 8

Good morning, the Mock Trial is seeking a “Trial Lawyer” who would like to volunteer (Time, Talents & Passion in nurturing the next generation of justice fighters) a couple of hours each week to help prepare the students for High School Mock Trials competition.
