MESSAGE FROM THE K8 PROGRAMS DIRECTOR
Happy New Year CLA Families! 🎉
We hope that your last two weeks have provided quality family time and many days of celebration and joy. As a staff, we have truly missed our scholars and are excited to get back to our regular routines!
Prior to leaving for break, I cannot begin to explain the pride I felt during the Winter Program. Our Explorers (and some High School Navigators) did an absolutely fabulous job performing in front of their families and school community. This event was a joy to be part of and I am so blessed to serve CLA! A special thank you to Mr. Harrington, our CLA Staff, our K12 PTO, and the many families who donated their time and effort to ensure the event's success. This CLA tradition is one that I will look forward to for years to come!
Welcome back Explorers, and welcome to 2024!

Lego Legacy Team
The Middle School Lego Legacy Team attended the First Lego League Qualifying Tournament as guests to observe and learn. The team was able to engage with other Lego Teams, ask question and gather information that will help CLA prepare for future competitions.
National Cookie Day
On December 4th, the K8 Campus recognized National Cookie Day by decorating cookies as a school. Scholars were creative with their decorative designs and enjoyed eventually eating their creations!
Winter Spirit Week
The Winter Spirit Week did not disappoint as we saw many seasonal socks, holiday hats, and festive sweaters! Thank you families for supporting your scholars with spirit gear... we have so much fun engaging with our Explorers!
Salmon Release
Approximately 50 salmon were released into the Rogue River by our 5th graders. Scholars each took a turn releasing the salmon and a few even narrated the event from the Salmon's point of view. It was a great experience and exciting field trip for our scholars!
Middle School Science Engineering
Middle School Science classes tested their engineering knowledge to build stable bridges while mixing in a little holiday flare. Scholars had a great time learning through building!
EXPLORERS OF THE MONTH |Will Return Next Month
Explorers of the month are recognized during the monthly assembly. Teachers and staff select scholars who display the monthly character trait and surprise them during the assembly.

- Please let your student know the after school plans or how they are being picked up early before they come to school to limit interruptions in the classroom throughout the day
With instruction being important, we are asking that families refrain from pulling scholars out of class early (prior to their release time) so they may interact with content as much as possible. Thank you so much for partnering with us to ensure our Explorers receive the most out of their learning time!!!
College & Career Gear Days
With that, on the first Thursday of each month, our Explorers and staff will wear College/University gear (logo t-shirts, lanyards, hats, etc) or wear/dress in the Career they hope to be or would like to highlight. Example: if a scholar is hoping to be a firefighter in the future and they have an outfit, they are encouraged to wear it on this day!
Our hope is that we begin encouraging our Explorers think about their future!
