These scholarships are available to BC high school students that are attending a Post-Secondary Institute in September 2023 regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or status in Canada. Each of the scholarships aims to highlight the contributions of young British Columbians to different aspects of the province’s social and cultural fabric.
Each of the scholarships is named after a Sikh historical figure, and applicants are required to reflect on the role that their particular strengths have and will play in the ongoing success of their community.
These scholarships include:

· Bhai Mardana Ji Arts Scholarship
· Mata Khivi Ji Community Service Scholarship

· Sant Teja Singh Ji Academic Achievement Scholarship
Additional details can be found at SHBC’s website, or through SHBC’s social media channels.
About Sikh Heritage Month
Sikh Heritage Month was first celebrated in BC in 2018. Its purpose is to celebrate the contributions and aspirations of all Sikh-Canadians and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of a rich, unique, and diverse heritage. Sikhs have been in BC for over 100 years, and this is an opportunity to showcase their contribution to the economic, social, and cultural fabric of the province. This initiative is meant to help create awareness and appreciation for Sikhi in Canada. On April 30, 2019, the Sikh Heritage Month Act was formally recognized by the Government of Canada. This means that throughout Canada, in each and every year, April is to be known as “Sikh Heritage Month.”
