Weekly Update
What a great first week we had in second grade! We enjoyed getting to know one another and learning school and classroom routines. This week, we will continue to learn about the three states of matter (solids, liquids, and gases). In Wit and Wisdom, our new reading program, we begin a study of changes in nature and how those changes affect animals and humans. Our first story is: How Do You Know It's Fall and we will begin looking at changes in weather. MClass reading assessments begin this week and we will also take the STAR Math Assessment.
CLASSROOM WISH LIST
After our first week of school, I would like to share our classroom Wish List. If you are able and willing please donate what you can. It will be greatly appreciated.

SNACK Donations Needed
Classroom snacks are appreciated for those who forget to bring a snack. Pretzels, goldfish, crackers, granola bars are good items to buy in bulk. Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Wal-Mart, and Aldi all have inexpensive snacks for kids. Whatever your child likes, other children will like too!
Snacks and Water Bottles
Please send a snack and refillable water bottle each day.
Green Take Home Folders
Please look in your child's folder each night. The behavior log and nightly reading log should always be on the "Return to School" side. Your child's weekly spelling words and fluency practice will also be on the "Return to School side". Each child will bring home at least one book to read each night. Parents need to record the title and the number of minutes read on the Reading Log. Directions for homework are located ON THE BACK of the green folder. Any papers on the "Keep at Home" side, please take out each day.
Homework
Directions for Homework each day are located on the back of the green folder. Check out the statistics below!!!
