April is Month of the Military Child!
April is designated as Month of the Military Child – a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. View the presidential proclamation.
Please join us in showing our support for our District's 1200+ military-connected students by wearing purple this Friday, and sharing your photos on social media. Be sure to use the hashtags #WeAreBremerton and #PurpleUp. Thank you!

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month in the Bremerton School District!
As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month, we would like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to all the school volunteers who have generously given their time and energy to support our students, teachers, and staff. Your unwavering commitment to our school community is truly commendable and has had a significant impact on the education and well-being of our students.
Whether it's volunteering in the classroom, assisting with school events, or serving on committees, your contributions have helped make our schools a better place. We cannot thank you enough for your dedication and selflessness, and we are truly fortunate to have you as part of our school family. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside you in the future.

Alternative learning opportunities for elementary students for 2023-24
Are you interested in alternative learning opportunities for your elementary student for 2023-24? We invite you to learn more about:
Home Link (grades K-8)
The Bremerton Home Link program is a no-cost, alternative learning education program that emphasizes student needs and strengths. This parent partnership program is for families who have chosen to educate their child or children in an alternative way at home. By joining the Home Link program, parents will work with a certificated teacher for curriculum needs, assessments, lesson planning, teaching methods, and activities and enrichment programs. Learn more!
Virtual Learning Academy (grades 2-5 for 2023-24)
Bremerton School District’s Virtual Learning Academy offers online learning for elementary students. The program consists of both synchronous and asynchronous learning as well as small group instruction throughout the week with a dedicated teacher for each learning cohort.
The Virtual Learning Academy is much more than an online school. Teachers are involved throughout the school day to build strong relationships with students and their guardians. This relationship sets the foundation for designing individualized student learning plans catered to each student’s needs. Learn more!
Help us improve our schools!
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) developed the Washington School Improvement Framework (WSIF) to identify schools to receive funding for support under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
Each school leadership team will be working with district administrators and our Comprehensive Improvement Partners to identify goals and action steps to target student growth. The School Improvement Plan (SIP) will be developed in collaboration with staff, families, and community partners to look comprehensively at each school as a system and identify specific needs. The SIP will act as a guide for how funds will be spent at each school based on the needs identified and the student goals.
In the coming weeks, schools will be developing their School Improvement Plan, identifying student growth goals and activities for 2023-24 school year, in collaboration with staff, families, and community partners. If you are interested in participating in this process, please contact your school principal! Learn more here.
