D-West Instruction
9th Grade Persuasive Speech: We worked with several classes through this research project. This year we added the instruction of screencastify-- a screencasting add on to Chrome-- to assist the students with recording their final products, most of which were completed in google slides.
12th Grade Book Selection: In a collaborative effort with a 12th English teacher, we created an independent reading book assignment. Students came in to select their texts.
Independent Reading Selection: Lifeskills students came down to the library to select their independent reading from our "E is for everyone" section.
12 Government, Fake News: In a collaboration with History teachers, we built and co-taught a three day lesson on Fake News and how it is impacting us as consumers of information and our democracy as a whole.
11 English Problem Paper: In a collaboration with an 11th grade English teacher, Mrs. Woodward, we developed and presented a new 11th grade research paper based on problem based learning and white paper design principles.
11th Grade WWII Battles Project: We developed a libguide and provided selected library books to support this project.
AP Psychology Literature Review: I co-taught the literature review process, use of our databases, and how to find and read appropriate resources for this year-long project.
12th English Poets Assignment: We pulled and presented resources to support students in this project.

Our Mission
The mission of the library program in the Downingtown Area School District is to provide a dynamic learning environment that instills essential 21st century literacy skills through direct and collaborative instruction and the use of a wide variety of print and digital resources. Our goal is to ensure that students have the opportunity to become inquiring and engaged global citizens who are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
