The Riebli Record
John B. Riebli Elementary- January 6, 2023
It's that time of the year for colds and flus...
We are seeing an increase in student absences due to illness. There has been an increase in absences across the County and state related to the flu, RSV, a separate viral infection, and in some cases, COVID-19.
Unfortunately, symptoms for the aforementioned illnesses have many crossovers and it can be hard to determine the difference. Health officials expect to see a spike in all of these highly contagious illnesses over the next few months.
Here are a few reminders
- If a child is symptomatic, they need to stay home
- If a child becomes symptomatic at school, they will be sent home
- A child must be temperature free for 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medication before they return
- We will continue to require a negative COVID test result for all symptomatic students before they return. Please email negative tests to etodd@mwusd.org and lgreco@mwusd.org
- We will continue to encourage students to wash hands regularly.
Thank you for working with us to try to keep everyone healthy!
Cell phone and smart watch reminder!
Dear Parents,
Over the past year or so, we've had several cases of students using communication devices during school hours. They may be used outside school hours. Cell phones and smart watches are allowed at school, but may not be used to contact others, including parents. It is possible that you, or your child was unaware of this policy. If your child needs to contact you, they can come to the office, if you need to get a message to them, please call or email the office. I'm attaching the Mark West School District policy on personal devices for your reference. If you have any questions, please contact me.
"Students may bring personal technology, including computers, smart phones, network access devices, or other electronic signaling devices to school provided that such technology is used for instructional purposes. Students shall abide by the instructions provided by teachers and other school staff in the use of such personal technologies. Access to the Internet or other District communication systems from personal technology is limited to wireless access points on the school campuses or other access devices away from school. Access to the Internet or other District communication systems from personal technology is not available via hardwire connections."
