Around the School Spotlight
Hawks View has talent! Our talent show today was a big success, thanks to our courageous and talented students AND our parent group that helped to organize, set-up, run and orchestrate the entire show! We would not have had this happen without them! We had piano players, dancers, singers, a pogo stick bouncer, an artist and more!
And while the Talent Show was running in one gym, we had our Book Bonanza in the other gym! All throughout the day, classes were able to come through and students could select books to take home for summer reading! We are grateful for the ongoing book donations throughout the year to help make this possible and once again, our parent group for organizing, setting up and making this day run so efficiently. We have the best community!
Field Day - June 9th
Field Day is next Friday! Here are a few reminders for students to help make the day a success.
Bring a water bottle
Wear comfortable/safe shoes (no sandals or flip flops)
Wear socks
Wear sunscreen
Dress appropriately for the weather
WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS! We couldn’t do this without our amazing volunteers! Contact Katie Kearn (fundraising@hawksviewpac.org) for more details or click on the sign up link below! Volunteers are encouraged to join us for lunch! All volunteers must have an approved background check, and shown proof of Covid vaccination to the office staff. If you would like an exception form for the Covid vaccination, please contact the office. Background checks and exception forms can take 7-10 to clear. Deadline to apply for a background check for the 22-23 school year is June 5, 2023.
Forecasting Reminder for 5th Grade Students Attending SMS Next Year
Please make sure to have forms in by the deadline! SMS will not be forecasting in August so students need to make sure they complete their forms and turn them in on time, or their electives will be chosen for them. If you have any questions and/or concerns, please reach out to the SMS Registrar Allison Kopp at akopp@sherwood.k12.or.us or at 503-825-5520.
Student Medication
If your student has medication at school (prescription or over-the-counter), please make sure to pick up any remaining medication from your child's school by June 14th. Medication can be returned to school offices once they reopen in August. Please remember that a new Medication Authorization Form must be filled out each year and provided to the front office, along with the medication in its original container brought in by a parent/guardian.
Updating Student Health/Medical Information
Please make sure that the SSD Health Services Department has your child's up-to-date health information prior to the start of the 2023-24 school year. Please contact us at healthservices@sherwood.k12.or.us or 503.825.5088 with changes or new information.
Moving??
If you plan to move over the summer, have already made a move, or your student(s) will not be attending Hawks View this fall, please let the office know as soon as possible. As we are starting to think about class sizes for next fall, it’s very important that we know if your child(ren) will be attending school at Hawks View. Any end of year mailings, such as report cards, will be returned to the office if we do not have your correct address.
Lost and Found
Please remind your student(s) to check the lost and found for any jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, etc., that they may have lost. We have an abundance of items waiting to be claimed. Any items not claimed by June 23rd will be donated. Lost and found items will be brought to the area near the front doors on June 12th for your convenience.
